Chapter Six Explanation
It's really short, so I'm sorry. But, I started school this week, so I won't be able to dedicate a lot of time to Wattpad. I have Chemistry, Algebra II, Accounting, Entrepreneurship, and a few other more 'advanced' classes. (I'm a sophomore, so the classes I have aren't typical.)
The day Austin is released from the hospital.
I sat on the chair next to the bed, waiting for a doctor to come in, waiting for us to be able to leave. We filled out the release forms given to us by the nurse, we just had to speak to the doctor before we were allowed to leave.
Austin was wearing a tank top that I brought him along with a pair of loose fitted jeans. It took all of the guys to convince me to go home for a night and get some sleep, take a shower, and actually do something other than sit in the hospital chair.
“Dev, you really could’ve just stayed home. Alan would’ve given me a ride home,” Austin muttered, rubbing the top of my head carefully.
“Aus, I think I worried enough for all of your band to deserve giving you a ride home.”
“You shouldn’t have worried, Dev,” he started, stopping when I held my hand up.
“Austin, you hate when people worry, I know, but you’re just going to have to deal with it this time, because you could’ve been seriously hurt, and I couldn’t deal with losing you, alright?”
He nodded at me, knowing that no matter what, he wouldn’t be able to say anything to change my mind on this. I had the right to worry, just this one time. I was worried, and now it’s proven to be pointless.
“Okay,” I heard, turning my head towards the door to the hospital room, “after I explain a few things you will be free to go,” Dr. Reding said, glancing at a few papers he had on a clipboard.
Austin and I watched him, Austin grabbing my hand and holding it, paying close attention to everything that the doctor said, everything he did.
“Devon, I assume that you’ll be taking the liberty of watching Mr. Carlile while he is to be on bedrest,” he said, facing me, I nodded at him, knowing it would either be me or Tino. “Well, his stitches are fine, just don’t let him try to pull them out or anything. He needs to drink water mainly, nothing that has caffeine or alcohol in it.
“He needs to be laying down, or at least in a resting position for the next three weeks. Nothing that’ll cause his heart rate to become erratic or unsteady. He’ll have pain medications to take when he needs them. Other than that most things will be common sense, if you have any questions, call me and let me know,” he said, shaking my hand as well as Austin’s before walking out of the room.
“You’re free,” I say, smiling at him.
“Let’s go,” he says, standing up, wrapping his arm around me. Leading me through the halls of the hospital, stopping just as we hit the outside of the hospital.
“I drove my car here, it’s over here,” I mutter, pulling him along towards the car.
We got into the car, Austin sitting in the passenger seat, not asking to drive. I started the car, pulling away from the hospital.
I was at a loss for words. I wanted to say something, anything. I couldn’t think of anything to say for the matter though. What’s the appropriate thing to do when your boyfriend just got out of the hospital? I didn’t know how to deal with it, I hadn’t ever had to deal with something like this before. Austin had been alright since we started dating. Stephan was always a health addict. I didn’t know how to deal with this.
