jihoon's throat tightened, and his breathing hastened. the very woman whom he had not wanted to see again for the rest of his life, was standing in front of him once more. her presence completely changed his mood and indeed, turned his world upside down. jae eun's appearance was totally out of his expectations.
"what are you doing here?"
as he finished his question breathily, gut-wrenching sobs tore through his chest.
"no no this can't be happening! get out!"
his hands grabbed firmly onto her shoulders and pushed her out of his room. the door slammed shut in front of her face.
"jihoon! open up!"
"no no! just, get the fuck away from me!"his use of profanity was alarming for woojin who could hear him from all the way downstairs. he wanted to stay out of the pair's matters, but not anymore as it seemed that the situation was getting out of hand and completely uncontrollable.
"jihoon. it's me. open up. now."
"no woojin! just go away."jihoon could not bring himself to give in at this moment. he had endured enough days, months, even a whole year without her, and he most definitely did not want to live his past days of self-blame and worry again. but his current state had totally switched his mind into a different direction and he lost all concentration on the sketch supposedly due two days later.
"jihoon. please."
jae eun had not expected for her to kick her out of the room. she thought they would carry a conversation as adults at least, given that one year had matured jae eun enough, but it still did not bring acceptance for his disappearance.
"no means no. stop it and go away."
"okay i'll leave."she shook her head at woojin, contradicting what she said. she brought woojin downstairs and explained.
"is it okay if i stay here? i'll just stay outside his room."
jae eun forced a smile, as a sob threatened to escape her.
"sure go ahead. do you want to use the guestroom?"
"no it's okay thanks."she made her way back upstairs again, settling herself outside his door. it was already late afternoon and she could forget about going back to work. great, she lost her job once again.
jae eun literally stared into empty space. she would never leave this spot, not until he comes out. he surely needs to eat and use the toilet, right?
she fiddled with her fingers as she stayed waiting. every single sound she heard coming from his room had her back off the wall and almost up her feet, from the flipping of pages to the closing of wardrobe doors.
the sun was slowly disappearing from the sky and darkness replaced the once brightly lit hallway. jae eun's eyes were slowly giving up on her as her head swayed left to right. she had to constantly give herself light slaps to stay awake. she even paced up and down the hallway but to no avail.
there wasn't even a hint of a park jihoon.
her back slumped against the wall as she drifted off to dreamland.
but, never will she know, that jihoon had left his room once, while she was asleep. he picked up a blanket from his room and draped it over her petite sleeping figure.
he had been tossing and turning in bed, unable to fall asleep. the sudden appearance of jae eun had kept his eyes wide awake at night as various thoughts crossed his mind. at this rate, he could even see the sunrise in the morning without feeling a tad bit tired.
his fingers inched over her face, hovering above it. he did not dare to land his hands on her. he was afraid. afraid that he would fall in love all over again.
he had come to a conclusion that love was a scary thing. and it makes two people rely on each other for love. it makes two people desperate for each other. and jihoon absolutely hates that.
he hates that he has to rely on her. he hates to be a burden to her. he hates having for her to drag his sorry ass all around. he hates for him to drag her behind ahead of her bright future. he hated everything about this relationship.
