Promise (Raphael X Reader)

Barbara "Barbs"  Gordon.

Everyone is outside with their parents with nothing but relief radiating on their faces. We strolled out avoiding everyone's attention. We were almost off campus until Richard and Barbara came onto campus spotting us instantly.

Raphael pov

We were in the lair waiting for the evening to come to go on patrol.
"Hey, guys." April came in her brown hair in a ponytail.
"Hey, April." We all greeted her as we continue getting ready.
"Okay, so I have a question for you guys. I promise I won't release it, but how did you guys stop the clan today without anyone seeing you?" She's sitting on a stool her elbows on the counter.
"What are you talking about angel cakes?" Mikey looks at her quizzically.
"At the University. The foot clan trespassed onto the campus during the daytime. The report says a group of people knocked them out in the school's gym before they could do whatever they were going to do." A moment pass "That wasn't you guys?" She sat up straight.
"Sorry April, but I still haven't found a way to allow us to be seen during the day yet." Donnie answers.
I felt myself panicking what if that was (y/n)'s school. But then, who saved her? I mean them.
"Maybe we have some competition hopefully. I hope it's not someone worse than the foot clan." Leo began pondering.
I reach for my t phone texting (y/n) making sure she's safe.

Your pov

Richard and Barbara were in the living room in front of us, as we sat on the sofa looking away. Dick was pacing back and forth, while Barbs stand before us her arms crossed.
"Look we're sorry, but it's not like we were caught." I explain.
"And if someone did, or if the foot clan knocked you out first. Then what?" Richard yell at us.
"We're sorry. We were safe though. They cut off the power, " Jason lied we went out there not even thinking about the cameras "with the power off it turned off the cameras, but to be sure we used the fire escapes that has no cameras. Then we went to the other side of the school campus where no one was and where we can get baseball bats." Jason explained.
Dick still looks ticked, before he could get a word out I cut him off.
"Dammit, Dick!" I yell back "we stopped them. I know we were going to stay out of the way until we are told otherwise, but there was no way in hell I was going to stand by and watch them hurt innocent students who were probably scared shitless!" My phone rings saying I have a text.
We all look at it for a second.
"Dick you gotta see it from our perspective, you know damn well you would have done the same." Damian got up from his seat and went upstairs.
Grabbing my phone I follow Damian's lead.

Unlocking my phone I see Raphael texted me. I smile, laying down on my bed I decided to call him.
"Hey, Raph what's up?" I greeted when I heard him answer.
"Oh thank shell, you're okay?" He says ignoring my first question.
"I know how I described school made it-" he cut me off.
"No. I heard a school had a foot clan problem today? I guess that wasn't your school." He sounded relax.
"Raph, I hate to break this to you. That was my school." I informed him.
"Are ya' okay? Do ya' need me to come over?" He sounded stress.
"I'm okay, but I wouldn't mind you coming over for a bit." I needed to see someone outside of Jason and Damian.
"I'll be there in fifteen." He says before hanging up.

The fifteen minutes passed and there was a knock on my window.
"Sorry, I thought it was open." I say as I open the window for Raphael.
"It's cool." He picks me up and lays us in my bed. I lay on him, running my fingers on his scars.
"So, what happened?" He asks me.
"Not sure, Jason, Damian and I were in the forensic lab for lunch. Then the announcement came on saying to lock up the doors after we locked the door and turn off the lights, we notice the power was cut off-"
I stop unsure if I should tell the rest.
"I'm sorry that happened, I wish I was there to help you." He wraps his arms on my waist. I felt myself blush.

My alarm woke me up, I was about to turn it off until I notice that I was on top of Raph. "Fuck he's going to get in trouble again."
"Raphael." I shake him lightly.
"Huh, oh morning sunshine. Mind turning that off." His morning voice is sexy.
I lay there stunned for a second. "No Raph, it's tomorrow and your brother is going to be pissed." I answer him.
"Ugh, alright." He releases me. Locking my door before anyone can barge in, then I go to my bathroom to get ready with my clothes for the day.

Jason and Damian called for a meeting while Richard and Barbara were at their classes we agreed that we should start training more together and that we have to be more invisible than we were yesterday. After that we went over our notes together and figure out a schedule for us. After all that I enter my room to see Raphael is playing video games.
"How was your day?"I flop on my bed knowing he's been in here all day while I've been downstairs studying.
"Alright, didn't train today and no brothers. But Leo has been blowing up my phone."
"Looks like we're in trouble again." I giggle.
Seeing there's still daylight I join the game.

When evening fell, Raphael left. I'm laying on my bed. "I think I really like him. But I don't think he likes me. Should I make a move?"

Raphael pov
After patrolling with my brothers and dealing with Leo, I lie on my bed. "Ugh, I can't stop thinkin' about her. (Y/n) is just brave, unique, a bit of a smartass but it makes me laugh. She always keeps me on my toes. Fuck. Should I make a move? I mean she's a human, and I'm a mutant. Then again. Go for it Raph, she's a cool chick, what's the worse that could happen?"

A/N
Sorry that this shorter than usual. But this chapter is kinda like a buffer and to continue with the relationship. Hopefully, the next one will be better.
