Promise (Raphael X Reader)

It's new year eve, I grab my leather jacket and head downstairs to meet everyone who is waiting for me. I made a last minute late Christmas present for Raphael and his brothers that could help them with patrols. I lead the way to the lair, not that Damian and Jason would need it. "You okay?" I hear Jason next to me.
"Nervous." I admitted to him. Jason always knows when I am scared or anxious.
"You're fidgeting." His voice lowers at the end.
I didn't realize how scared I was. Is it because of Leo? Or spending time with his family at his home for a holiday? Raph mentioned I am going to meet Splinter, who is like Raph's dad.
We enter the alley, making a quick glance around I see the coast is clear. Quickly Damian and Jason lift the manhole cover. Richard follows my lead down into the sewer, Barbara follows Richard, leaving Jason and Damian the last to enter.
Walking through the maze of waste, luckily there's a sidewalk keeping us out of the waste.
Finally reaching the lair everyone waits for me. Jason reaches for me, "It'll be okay." He reassures me. Entering we see the turtles playing video games. Raph won, he gets up from his seat "Ha, take that Mikey." He smugly announces. "What's the prize?" I ask.
Their heads snap towards us. Raph looks embarrassed but quickly greets me. "Hey, gorgeous." He kisses my cheek before greeting everyone else. Mikey sprung off the sofa to say hi. Donnie gets off the sofa to calmly acknowledge us, while Leo lastly gets up and say hello to us. "So, is this everyone?" Richard asks. I hear a wood cane coming from the hallway. We turn to see an old mutant rat.
"Hello, you must be my son's friends." He waits for his son's to introduce us and him. I panicked, Jason quickly got in front me, "Sensi this is Jason." I hear Mikey introduce. Jason took his chance to shake his hand.
"Master Splinter this is my girlfriend, (y/n)." I collected myself in time, and hug him, "It's great to finally meet you."
Everyone is talking until Casey and April come in with food. We say hello to them, and help them place the food in the kitchen. Barbara and I help April fix together the meal as the boys stay in the living room watching an action movie.

"Dinner is ready." Barbara calls into the living room. As the boys rushed in Master Splinter takes his seat at the head of the table. My heart is pounding. I have Jason to my left and Raph to my right. I began playing with my hands under the table. Raphael didn't notice, but I could tell he is as nervous as I am. "So, my son. How did you meet (y/n)?" Not the first topic of conversation but I began the story for Raph, he was stuttering a bit. "It all happened the night I moved to New York." I started hoping to capture the audience's attention.

Time Skip

After dinner, we continued being with each other. Raph and I were away from everyone. I sat in his lap while his arms were around me. "Sorry, this ain't fancy like Bruce's parties." I kissed him. "It's perfect. Nothing beats family and friends." We paused. "Raph is everything okay?" I question him. I can tell he is nervous, but there is something else bothering him. "I'm fine." He grumpily answered.
"You know you can tell me right." I tell him for what may have been the hundredth time.
"I need some air." Taking me out his lap he sneaks away.

I'm on top of a building near the manhole that I exit out of.
"Is it about Splinter?" I continue the conservation.
Raphael was getting more mad. He can't honestly think I didn't notice when I saw him that he seemed weak, tired and not well. That's why Leo is always in that other room.
"Raph..." I reach out for him, but he roughly grabbed my wrist.
I took a deep breath. "You know before I moved here, I lived in Gotham. My moms and I lived in a decent sized home I had an sister Venus, two pets and dozen of plants that made it look it like a fairies lived there. My time were mostly at Bruce's house to hang out with his sons. I started going there more when Richard started dating Barbara. We were all close. That was until a few months before moving here. Something changed with our heroes, they were killing." I paused and push down the urge to cry. "That may have not sounded so bad. That would mean no more Scarecrow, Penguin, Lex Luther, or Reverse Flash. Although I don't believe in killing them, mostly because it is not a citizen's job to do, or a vigilante's." He was listening but he wasn't letting go of my wrist.
"They started killing people that were in jail, even if it was a first-time offense or a teenager that shoplifted a pair of cheap headphones. Gotham became divided, people who supported killing and those who didn't. At first, we were staying low hoping that will help us survive, but that was until Joker went to far, he went after everyone and tipped them past their breaking point. The divided soon fought against each other. We lost our home and Venus is no where to be found and we don't know what happened." I couldn't hold it in any longer. My voice is cracking and I feel the tears coming. Raph's grip changed and he pulled me in.
"You know I found out who my dad is because he died thanks to one of Joker's trick... I had two moms and a sister. Now I'm here not knowing if she's safe or even still alive." I broke. I was full on sobbing into Raphael's chest. I felt tears fell out his eyes.
"Splinter has been sick for a while, but it's like it gets worse every year. Donnie has been tryin' to look for a cure, but nothing. Some things did help it just never lasted long. I can barely see him like that, Mikey refuses to believe that he is sick. Leo and Donnie are probably are the only ones that can stomach it. I hate that I can't." I knew why he hated it, he doesn't like feeling weak, or vulnerable. He wants to help, but he doesn't know how.
Wanting to change the subject I quickly, grab the small device that Richard helped me make.
"I made you something and for your brothers too." I took out a rebreather that is fitted to Raphael.
"A mask?" He questions me.
"It's a rebreather, it helps you breathe underwater, or in places that have toxic air." I explain.
"You really are a geek." He says laughing. He knows I enjoy tinkering with robots, coding, and anything in that category when I have time to.
I'm sure Richard gave Raph's brothers their masks. I thought.
Looking at the time we enter the lair before midnight.
Entering we get twelve grapes and watch the count down.
"3... 2... 1. Happy New Year!" We all cheered. Raphael and I share a kiss, so did Richard and Barbs before eating the twelve grapes for good luck in the new year.
