A/N: Okay, so for regular ship ones, I'll just do the ship name as the title so Y'all know it's not an 'x Reader' one-shot. Also, HUMAN AU!
Enjoy!
Simon unlocked the glass door, smiling then sighing afterward, his hot breath making a smoke-like appearance in the cold early morning of Detroit. Setting his bag down behind the counter and shoving it on a shelf, he turned the main lights on and started to get to work. He owned a bakery, you see. It was fairly popular, and the pastries were always the perfect sweetness. After a few hours of baking, he put the delicacies on their trays in the glass compartment and finally opened the bakery for business.
A few hours had passed, and he still hadn't seen his favorite customer. There were quite a few people in the building with him at the time, but he didn't really pay any mind to it. He leans on the counter in front of him and quietly sighs. He hears the bell ring, a signal that someone has opened the door, and he immediately perks up when he sees who it is. "Hi, Markus!" He exclaims while smiling. "Hello, Simon." Simon then notices he has this large bouquet of flowers in one of his hands and his smile falters a tad. "How are you today? It seems extra busy today, but I bet that's normal, huh?" Markus smiles a bit at him. Simon has liked Markus for a while, but he hasn't worked up the courage to tell him yet. He thinks he might have not done it soon enough. He pushes the thought aside and perks up again. "Markus, I have something for you. I made it this morning." Simon walks through a doorway behind himself, and then immediately comes back out with a small blue box. He slides it to Markus across the counter, and he starts to open it. It was a chocolate cupcake with vanilla frosting, with blue and green sprinkles atop it. "Ah! T-thank you Simon. I love it." He graciously smiles and then realizes something. "Oh, I have something for you too. But you have to close your eyes first." Simon playfully rolls his eyes and obeys. Markus takes a deep inhale. "Open your eyes." When he opened his eyes, the first thing he saw was flowers. The flowers Markus had earlier. A deep blush settled on the blond's face, as he tried to find a response. "I, uh, didn't know what kind you liked, so I just guessed. I hope you like them." Markus was looking everywhere but at Simon, and he gently takes them from him. It was filled with a few different flowers; Amaryllis, white carnations, tulips, peonies, and gardenias. From what he remembered, they all symbolized beauty and love in some way or another. His blush deepens, and he starts to speak. "I love them Markus, but you do know what these symbolize, right?" He looked up from the flowers at Markus. "They mean love. And that you find me attractive, but love." Markus finally looks at Simon. "Yeah, I know. I guess I actually put more thought into it than I knew. And-" He took a deep inhale, and then a quick exhale. "I do love you, Simon. Every time I come in here and see you, it just makes me feel so happy, and I feel so happy when I'm around you, and-and- I just couldn't tell you outright. I felt like I had to do something for you since you do all this stuff for me, and-" Simon puts his hand on Markus' and he stops talking. "It's fine, Markus. You really didn't need to do this for me though. Although I do appreciate the gesture, I would have accepted even if you had nothing. I love you too, I've just been too much of a wuss to actually admit it to you." He softly laughs and excuses himself to go find a vase. He comes back with a clear vase, with beautiful engravings on it. It was already filled with water, and he sets it on the front counter to show off to everyone. "So, are we like... together now? I mean, I'm not saying no." Simon leans on the counter, putting his hands on it, awaiting his response. "Yes, which means I can do this now." Markus leans across the counter, pulling Simon into a gentle kiss, which he returns. "Markus, as much as I'd like to right now, I am working." He softly laughs in the middle of talking. "Either you find a table to sit at and admire me from afar, or you get back here and help me." Markus places a small peck on Simon's cheek, as he walks behind the counter and throws on an apron. He mainly helped with getting and boxing up the pastries, while Simon took care of the orders and the cash registers.
A few years ahead, they were still happily working together, and they couldn't be happier.
But of course, they could, since Markus proposed to the love of his life, successfully catching him.
