Heejin took the box from your hands and you sent her a look, her only smiling at you before turning and walking up the steps of the apartment complex. You sigh, shaking your head and turning to the moving truck and grabbing another box, hopefully one she wouldn't take from you so you could at least look like you're doing something.
After a long year of your first year in college, you were finally allowed to move into an apartment of your own. Heejin had offered to help you move in since both your parents would be at work and unable to help, and since you knew you'd be too weak to carry them all up there, you agreed. Of course, your parents had hired moving workers to help you but ... having Heejin there wouldn't be such a bad idea.
However, it seemed like Heejin was just taking all the boxes for you, which of course, you technically didn't mind, but you had to be doing something instead of looking like you're just handing Heejin the boxes for you.
One of the movers walks past you and you send them a smile before starting up the stairs, Heejin coming down just as you started up. Before she can grab the box out of your hands, you quickly say, "It's not that heavy, I got it."
She sends you a cautious look but sends you another smile anyway, allowing you to walk up past her. You shake your head to yourself and walk into your apartment, the door wide open so no one would have to open it when they came up. You look at the side of the box, a few days ago, you labeled boxes on what they all were and where to put them, which was smart on your part, otherwise everything would be piled in one room and you'd have to open each box to see where to put them.
After you were done putting the box in the bathroom, you walk down the stairs only to find Heejin struggling to pick up a big box, and you realize it was one of the boxes that you'd put heavier items in.
"Heejin!" You call out her name and she quickly stands up straight, letting the box down on the ground and turns to you, a smile on her face.
"Hi," she says as you walk closer to her.
"That's heavy, let me get it," you say and bend down to pick it up, even though you knew you'd probably never be able to pick it up, you didn't want her hurting herself.
"No, it's okay," she puts her hands on yours, stopping you from picking it up, "It's not heavy. And, I'm stronger than I look."
The two of you stand up straight, staring right into each other's eyes, silently fighting over who would be the one to take the box upstairs.
"Excuse me," a voice says and it breaks your silent argument, the two of you turning to find one of the movers bending down and picking up the box with no struggle, "We'll take the heavier boxes, don't worry about it."
"Oh," you murmur, "Okay ... Thank you!"
You turn to Heejin, a satisfied look on your face, "Well, at least we don't have to carry the heavier ones." You turn away, reaching to grab a not so heavy box when Heejin intercepts.
"That's alright," she pulls the box closer to her and sends you a smile, hidden with something else besides politeness, "I got it."
You watch as she walks away from you with the box in her grip and scoff silently to yourself, shaking your head for about the hundredth time today.
"Don't grab any other boxes, either!" Heejin calls back over her shoulder. "We wouldn't want you to fall, would we?"
You roll your eyes, but there's a smile on your face as you turn back to the truck, grabbing a box and mutter to yourself, "I'm stronger than I look."
