Ha Sooyoung is beautiful. She's gorgeous, pretty, stunning, and any other word that a person could use to describe pure and utter beauty. It's almost annoying, really - how breathtaking she is to look at. It's completely distracting, and it's been distracting you for years.
You see Sooyoung for the first time in the middle of your freshman year. Sooyoung had been a new student in your school and she had quickly becomes a topic of conversation among the students. You tried to ignore all of the talk about her, but it seemed like no matter who you talk tried to talk to, they'd somehow end up bringing up the pretty new student. As much as you tried not to pay attention to her, it just didn't work. It became even harder to ignore her when you realized that she would be joining your last period.
The first thing that you noticed about Sooyoung is, unsurprisingly, her face. You had thought everybody had been over exaggerating when they talked about her, but you were dead wrong. The second thing that you noticed about Sooyoung was that she was awfully quiet. She made to effort to talk or sit next to anybody else in the class. She went straight towards an empty desk towards the back of the room and immediately pulled out a book, blocking out the world around her.
You stared at the girl for a few seconds before your friend tapped your shoulder, making you twist your body around in your desk just to face her. Your friend ends up asking the question that's been floating around in your mind ever since the girl walked into the classroom.
"Why is she so quiet?"
You begin to notice a few other things about Sooyoung over the course of a couple of months.
The third thing that you ever notice about Sooyoung is that for some reason, she prefers to be called Yves. The fourth thing that you notice about Yves is that she really, really doesn't seem to like to talk to people, and the fifth thing that you notice is that the girl always has a book with her.
Oh, and she rides on the same bus as you.
You don't know how you don't notice her before, but you just now realized that she always sits in the back of the bus with a book in hand, alone. Initially, you had been confused. How could you have not noticed that the girl you've been silently admiring has been riding the same bus as you for months now? After thinking about it for a longer time than you probably should have, you realized that it's most likely because of how quiet Yves was. Although her beauty was more than striking, it was still hard to remember that she was around since she never talked.
"Are you even paying attention to me?"
You stare at Yves for a few more seconds before looking at your friend, Jinsoul, who looked extremely irritated right now.
"I've been talking for at least 10 minutes now. Have you really not heard anything that I've said?"
You give her a guilty smile, "Sorry."
She huffs, "What were you even thinking about?"
"Nothing important."
"Nothing important? You've been thinking about nothing important for the last 10 minutes? I smell bullshit." Jinsoul crosses her arms and glares at you, signifying that she definitely wasn't going to let you get away with this.
As much as you wanted to be annoyed with your friend, you couldn't blame her too much. Ever since Yves arrived you've found yourself always glancing at her out of curiosity which always ended up with you tuning out your group of friends. It's not like you meant to do it on purpose, it just always sort of happened no matter how many times you tried to stop.
