ill race you by gaywheesa on tumblr
Im Yeojin has always been one of your very close friends. The two of you had recently met in one of your classes and immediately became friends. The truth was, Yeojin had a major crush on you but always ended up friendzoning herself. She wanted to be your girlfriend badly, but didn't know how to do anything without it seeming like she was doing it out of friendship. She could hug you, rest her head on your shoulder, play with your hair, but it still seemed you were oblivious to her crush no matter how obvious she made herself.
Yeojin was always complaining to Yerim and Chaewon about how much she liked you but she just didn't know how to approach her feelings as you were her first ever crush. Chaewon always told her to simply 'go for it'. But Yeojin didn't know what to make of that.
You and Yeojin were on your way to the market. Yeojin had invited you over to watch a movie with her, so you wanted to get some snacks before you went. Yeojin was walking next to you, talking about how much she wanted to date someone and have a girlfriend. At that time, you didn't know if Yeojin was talking about you, so you let it slide without question.
Yeojin groaned. "I just want to date with someone, you know? I've always wondered what it would be like to hold someone's hand and all." You nodded as you shoved your cold hands in the pockets of your hoodie. Yeojin was always very pretty to you, and you'd always wonder what it would be like to hold her hand. Little did you know, Yeojin felt the exact same. She'd sit up at night thinking about you, but didn't really know how to act on her feelings.
"I've never dated anyone," you admitted.
Yeojin looked at you and slowed down her pace a bit. "Really? You?" You smiled a little and looked at the ground whilst shaking your head. Yeojin raised her eyebrows. "Wow, I though people would be all over you," she laughed.
Once you reached the market, the two of you walked in and got your desired snacks. You got a bunch of fruit snacks while Yeojin got a bunch of chips. "What do you like to drink?" Yeojin asked you. You shrugged, "Just about anything."
Yeojin opened the market's refrigerator and reached up to get you some banana milk. She got herself a bottle while she was at it. She handed you the bottle of milk and smiled. You paid for your things and walked out of the market. "It took like fifteen minutes to walk here," Yeojin groaned while throwing her head back. "It'll be dark by the time we get back."
"I'll race you," you said. Yeojin's eyebrows furrowed.
"Ah, really? I'll lose if we race anyways, and I'm tired," Yeojin whined.
"Fine, it was just an idea," you said with a slight pout.
Yeojin grinned and looked to you. "Changed my mind. Ready, set, go!" She said quickly then began running right ahead of you with her paper bags in her hands. You were quick to hold tighter the the bag in your arms and try and catch up with her. When she looked behind her, you were close to catching up with her, so she laughed loudly and tried to speed it up.
Your legs took you further and eventually you were right next to her, laughing as her face looked exhausted already. The two of you avoided running into anyone on the same sidewalk as you as you continued running with a bead of sweat running down your forehead and your breath becoming uneasy. You looked to Yeojin who was still trying her hardest but also falling slightly behind you.
"Ah, I'm winning!" You said while looking behind you to Yeojin. Just when you were about to dash off way ahead of you, Yeojin grabbed onto your hand to slow you down. She started running ahead of you with her hand still in yours. The feeling was great, although her palms were very warm.
"I'm winning, now," Yeojin giggled while never letting go of your hand. Yeojin was going faster than you now, so your legs began giving out. You slowed down so Yeojin did, too, her fingers intertwined with yours. "Okay, let's just say we both win," she suggested. You nodded while trying to catch your breath and letting go of her hand to put your hands on your legs. "But, hey, we're here," she said while pointing to her apartment building.
It was almost instinctively, but when you had caught up with your breathing, your hand found it's way to Yeojin's. She looked down at where your hand fit perfectly with hers and found herself blushing incredibly hard. "I'm sorry," you said, taking your hand away from hers.
You and Yeojin awkwardly walked up the porch steps to go into the apartment building. Yeojin decided to take Chaewon's words and play them in her head: "go for it." Yeojin caught herself turning towards you and giving you a kiss on your cheek. Your face was flushed from both running and the fact Yeojin just gave you a kiss. Yeojin held on tighter to her paper bags and looked down at the ground. She thought she might have just ruined a perfectly good friendship. Until you looked at her quietly, then tilted her face up with your hand. Your lips met quickly and Yeojin immediately got flustered and didn't know what to do other than keep her eyes open. Is this really happening?
Once you separated, your eyes opened and you smiled, hoping that that was okay for you to do. Yeojin giggled slightly to herself. "Do you, like, wanna make this a date?" Yeojin asked you, referring to what just happened and the fact you'd be in her house watching a movie for 2 hours. You bit your lip from inside of your mouth and looked down with a shy nod.
Yeojin smiled and grabbed your hand from out of your pocket, leading you inside with your fingers intertwined. Your hands stayed like that for almost the rest of the night. Once the movie was over, you went to the door and were about to leave when Yeojin slowly walked up to you as if she wasn't sure if you'd let her kiss you. But, in fact, when she leaned to you to give you a peck on the lips, you let her, and you even kissed back.
It was probably the night you would never forget, especially since Yeojin took you on many more dates and gave you many more kisses
