rendezvous in the middle by favorbit
This was supposed to be a fun day out at the zoo. You'd been looking forward to hanging out with the girls, especially since everyone had been so busy recently that you hadn't seen them in a while. But you'd only taken a few steps into the zoo, and not only were you already lost, but you'd already lost them.
"I looked away for a second," you muttered to yourself, looking down at your phone. You hardly had any signal in this place, so you patted your pockets, looking for the map you'd picked up. Gone. You sighed and shook your head, remembering that Yves had picked it up when the five of you had stepped inside the zoo.
How am I going to find them now? You held up your phone, hoping to get some sort of signal. As you brought it back down, feeling disappointed, you heard a familiar laugh. Immediately, you spun on your heel and looked around, trying to figure out where that laugh had come from. It was definitely Gowon, but where was she?
It came again, from the direction of indoor lion viewing, and you quickly made your way here, hopping around the families with an apologetic smile as you rushed inside.
Gowon was there, laughing at one of the lion cubs, who seemed to be fascinated with the glass, patting it over and over.
"There you are!" She looked up at you, eyes twinkling and a wide smile on her face. You really couldn't be mad at her, not when she was so cute.
"Look at the cub! It's so dumb, it's cute." You stood beside her, looking down at the cub as it fell over and yawned.
"I guess it is pretty cute." Then you looked over at her and shook your head. "But you guys all left me! Where did everyone else go?" She shrugged, still smiling at the cub as it pounced back up, only to fall over again.
"Sorry, I just heard that there was a little baby in here and I had to see it! I think Chuu wanted to see the new monkey enclosure with Yves, and Olivia kept saying something about the wolves." Your eyes caught a discarded map on one of the decorative rocks near the two of you, and you grabbed it, quickly opening it up to search for the animals she'd mentioned.
"Let's go for the wolves first. They're close to here." You heard her move, and quickly turned around to keep an eye on her. "Where are you going now?"
"Look at the hyenas! Aren't they cute?" She was grinning again, and you sighed, knowing you'd have to look at them with her. Looping your arm through hers to keep her close, you let her lead you towards the hyena enclosure on the other side.
"Fine. We'll look at the hyenas, and then we go to the wolves."
After looking at the hyenas for a couple of minutes and watching Gowon squeal about them with one of the little girls at the window beside her, the two of you headed towards the wolves.
"I love animals. They're so cute," Gowon said, skipping beside you. "I'm so glad we came to the zoo."
"Aren't you worried about where the others are?"
"They'll be fine! We'll find them eventually." Her eyes caught the prairie dog enclosure, but you tugged her forward.
"We're almost to the wolf enclosure, we'll come back and look at them once we get Olivia."
"Fine, fine." She pouted a bit as she looked back at the animals, but kept up with your pace as you turned the corner to the large wolf enclosure. There, leaning against one of the large railings, was a familiar figure.
"Olivia!"
"See, I told you she'd be here!" Olivia whipped around, her dark hair flying, and smiled.
