Out of Love by godrics on tumblr
"I swear to God, if I bump into a wall like last time-"
"It was one time, and I'm sorry!"
One of the girls giggle, and you scowl, "Not funny! I had a bruise for weeks."
"It's not funny, she was hurt," you can hear Haseul's voice and sigh in relief, at least Haseul was with you so the girls just didn't let you walk into walls.
... Nevermind. "Ouch, sorry Y/N!" You hear Haseul say.
You huff, stumbling back into someone's arms and now they have their arms on your shoulders, guiding you, "Where are we going?"
"You'll see," you hear Hyunjin giggle, and sigh, rolling your eyes. Even though you were younger than most of them, you really felt like the mature one.
There was a blindfold around your eyes, restricting you from being able to see, and you guessed it had been some sort of birthday surprise, since it was your birthday today. And of course, the girls had to throw you a surprise party, even though you knew it'd happen. You just didn't know where, or all that stuff.
There's mutters that you can't understand as you walk further before the hands on your shoulders pull you to a stop, accidentally yanking you into them, "Oops, sorry, we're here."
"And where is here?" You ask, sighing. All you'd wanted to do today was spend half the day with your family, and then the rest with Yeojin.
"A place," Yerim answers vaguely, "Just wait like ten seconds, and you'll see."
"If it's Chuck E Cheese, like last time, take me back home," you turn, ready to head back the direction you just came from, but one of the girls grabs your arms.
"It's not! Come on," she leads you forward again and then you hear the door opening, and reluctantly follow where the girls are leading you to.
"One, two," you hear one of the girls whisper behind you before your blindfold was taken off, the lights were apparently just being turned on, and there were people in front of you, yelling "Happy birthday!"
It took you some time to realize what was going on, mostly because of the bright lights after having the blindfold on for some time, and then your family was in front of you, your parents holding you close and kissing your temple.
Your heart was beating fast, having to smile to all the people that came up to you to wish you happy birthday, when really, all you wanted to do was see Yeojin and talk to her.
You've been here for almost twenty minutes, and you haven't seen any sign of Yeojin, yet. You've most likely already seen most of the people here, all wishing you a happy birthday and telling you their gifts were on the gift table, which you appreciated. Your cousin finally walks away from you when he's called away by your aunt, after talking to you about his college.
"Hi," arms are wrapping around you, and then Yeojin's face is in front of you, smiling brightly, "Happy birthday!"
You're not able to hide your bright smile either, "I thought you weren't here, didn't come to me for so long."
"I wanted everyone to get their wishes and stuff in first so I could stay with you for the rest of the party," she says, hugging you closer.
"Oh so you wanted me all for yourself?" You let out a laugh.
"Hey!" Yeojin says, pushing you away and you laugh again, "I'll just go with the girls, then."
"I was playing," you giggle, pulling her back to you and resting your head on her.
"I can't believe I planned to be nice to you today just for your birthday," she huffs, crossing her arms playfully.
"Aw, how sweet," you say, and then, "And then the moment it hits midnight, you're gonna tell me I look ugly."
"You do! Oh, wait," she nods but then sighs at herself, "Didn't mean to do that. But for now, I can't. No clowning on birthdays."
"Don't make fun of people in general," Vivi says as she walks past the two of you, giving you two looks.
You snicker, "It's out of love, I swear!"
Vivi just shakes her head as she walks away and you and Yeojin giggle.
"Whose idea was this, anyway?" You ask as you step away from her, taking her by the hand and walking to the couch to sit down.
"Oh," her cheeks turn red, avoiding your eyes, "Someone's."
"Well, obviously," you laugh, "But I need names-" You turn to look at her, spotting the red in her cheeks and smile, "Oh, so it was your idea?"
"No!" She denies, shaking her head and turns away from you, "It was your parents'!"
"Sure it was," you tease, "My parents don't love me enough to throw me a party and invite all my friends and family."
Yeojin's pouting when you make her turn to face you and you smile, pecking her cheek quickly so no one would see and whisper, "Thank you, even if you kinda clowned me earlier."
"It's out of love."
"Sure."
