Cold

Thunder rumbled, growling softly, echoing through the river valley. The bright flash of lightning filling up the dark night. The atmosphere was heavy, waiting; the humid air forming beads of water on everything around. The cold water splashed against the damp ridged stone cave. As the frigid wind blew in, it became trapped, swirling around in circles. The waves of murky water crashed against a femme, causing her to shiver uncontrollably. The red arm that wrapped around her tightened; and she was pulled closer against his shaking body. As it started to drizzle out, the echoing of water dripping against rocks filled the cave. The femme shifted, and started to stir. As she rolled over, expecting to find more room to stretch, she found instead cold air, and even colder water.

"Eek!" She cried out, as she splashed in, pulling the red mech in after her.

"Woah!" He yelled, before being pulled under. As he was able to touch the bottom, Knockout stood up, expecting to feel the cold air on his helm. But, he didn't. His helm was underwater, even standing at his full height. He looked up and noticed the water level to be...getting further away. He jumped, attempting to reach the top, and sank down back to the bottom. Groaning, he willed his servos to transform into saws. It was then, when he felt pain, pain like he had never felt before. It burned, searing and spreading, the more he tried to transform his saws.

"AAAAAAAAARRRRGGGG!!!!!!!!!" He yelled in pain, panting hard and deeply, though he continued to try. He had to get out. He had to...he had....he. In the fire that raged on his servo, a softness had been added, ice to sooth the pain. He looked down, to where Nightstreak looked up at him, smiling in apology.

"Knockout, please, stop hurting yourself."

He smiled back weakly, and accepted her advice, and finally stopped trying.

"What happened?" He asked.

"It appears that it stormed overnight, and the excess water caused the water levels to rise, flooding the cave."

"Well, now what?"

"I guess we wait until the water levels recede."

"We, we can't just...wait! The rust will make it impossible to move." Knockout protested.

"Well, then, smart guy, what do you propose?"

"We find our way out of this pool and into open water. Hopefully then, we can find some rocks to climb up on."

"Wont that just make us more vulnerable to the water?"

"Moving water won't harm us, as long as we're not in it for too long." Nightstreak sighed and nodded.

"Now, how are we going to get out?" She asked.

"I...I could try my saws again." Knockout tried, and cried out in pain again as the fire grew.

"No! Stop!" She said, tugging on his arm. "It's hurting you!" Knockout shook her away, refusing to stop. He had to get her out. "Knockout, please, stop!" He shook his head, clenching his teeth, trying his very hardest to hold in the pain. It soon reached the zenith, and Knockout cried out in pain.

"Knockout, listen to me, please! You are going to hurt yourself." Nightstreak cried, worried for the mech's wellbeing. She grabbed Knockouts face. "Please!" Knockout started into her pleading eyes, and stopped. Nightstreak sighed with relief and hugged him.

"Please, we'll find a another way to get out, just not one that involves you getting hurt." She murmured, and felt as his arms wrapped around her.

"Could we...reach the entrance?" Knockout gestured over to the cave mouth, which just a few feet over him. Nightstreak glanced over at the opening, out into the dark stormy day.
