*****MATURE CONTENT WARNING*****
Walking away from Reese wasn't easy, but I had my career to think about, and my career always came first. It had to. I had worked too hard to get where I am to throw it all away on some guy who was just looking for a good time.
I walked back into the room to see that a lot of people had left. Things were beginning to wind down, and I couldn't be more relieved. I smiled and shook hands and said my goodbye's all the way until there were just a few people left.
I turned to Erica, "Can you make sure everything gets cleaned up? I'm ready for bed." She smiled, "Sure thing, but are you sure you don't want to go out with me? I'm meeting up with Josh and Hillary at that rooftop bar later."
I shook my head, "No way, girl. I have to get home and get out of these shoes. Thanks though." I waved my goodbye and started towards the valet outside.
I got into the car after the driver opened the door for me and sank down into the plush leather seats. I was officially exhausted. I had spent all night playing hostess to our top clients and after fending off multiple advances from Reese, I didn't have anything else left in me. My feet were killing me from spending so much time in four inch stilettos and I was daydreaming about my head hitting the pillow while my driver sat in traffic outside the hotel.
I was startled by a knock on my window. Thinking it was Erica, I immediately rolled it down only to be face to face with Reese. "Think I could get a ride home?... I can't seem to get a cab in all this traffic." He smiled because he knew exactly what he was doing. This guy just couldn't take a hint. I scowled, "I said no to you coming home with me. I'm sure you can find one, just give it some time." I smiled a sweet, totally fake smile back at him, even though my heart was pounding out of my chest. If he got in this car, there was no way I wasn't going home with him.
Instead of answering me, he opened the door, "I could wait, but I'm sure the driver wouldn't be as beautiful as you." His proximity had my defenses breaking, so I slid over even though I knew it was a bad idea. Maybe Erica was right and one night wouldn't hurt.
"Where am I dropping you off?" He gave the driver his address and then hit the button for the privacy window, leaving us effectively alone.
He made his way closer to me but stopped short of actually touching me, as I expected. Instead, he just stared down at me, his gaze intense and unyielding. "You look exhausted," he confirmed.
I sighed, "I totally am. These events really take it out of me. I'm a numbers girl, people aren't my thing."
He laughed, "You did a good job of hiding that tonight." He scooted back over towards his side of the car and I let out a breath I didn't know I'd been holding.
"Give me your feet." He said, reaching out for them. "Um, no." I laughed nervously. "Oh come on, your feet must be killing you in those heels. I won't bite unless you ask me to."
I shouldn't have, but I moved to face him and lifted my feet. He took off one heel, then the other and sunk his fingers deep into my soles causing me to cringe just a little and then sigh in contentment.
"You're really good at this," I said shifting so I could lay back and relax. He chuckled, "Hey, I can be a nice guy. Trust me, I know how to treat a woman." He wiggled his eyebrows at that and I couldn't help but laugh. "Oh, I have no doubt you know your way around a woman Mr. Logan."
"And here I thought you were immune to my charm Ms. James." That made me laugh. I knew that he knew I wasn't. If I was, he absolutely would not be in my car right now. This was a recipe for disaster. I was asking for trouble with this, but I was tired of fighting him tonight. Reese Logan was fucking gorgeous and according to Erica, he had quite the reputation in the bedroom. She hadn't got to elaborate on what that reputation was exactly, but she did imply she would let him in her panties any time he damn well pleased. Her words, not mine.
