Todoroki Shoto x Reader
"Friendship is a plant of show growth and must undergo and withstand the shocks or adversity before it is entitled to the appellations." - George Washington
"I can't believe you failed in the Sports Festival!" (Y/N)'s father demanded, raising a hand to slap her tear stained cheeks.
"We expected so much from you." Her mother hissed, throwing her a discouraged glance.
It wasn't (Y/N)'s fault that she can't beat the ferocious Bakugo or the brawny Todoroki. The two boys were too muscular for her. She did her best but apparently, her parents seemed to differ. After the festival, she was immediately called to her house to be punished. In the days when school was cancelled and when they were supposed to rest to tend to their injuries, (Y/N) was severely castigated by both mother and father, not giving her any chance to repose or heal.
It was horrible for the poor girl.
As the pain increased every kick, slap and punch her father gave her, she gathered every ounce of courage in her. Once she was determined, she bolted to the door, outside their house and to the streets. She could hear her parents call her but she didn't dare turn back. She didn't know where she was going but she didn't care. All she wanted was to run away from the harsh reality and the pain. Her feet stepped rapidly on the concrete road, her shoes making sound amidst the silent environment.
A couple of minutes later, (Y/N) slowed down, getting exhausted from dashing to who knows where. She rested her hands on her knees, supporting her weight that was quite heavy for her tired state. She was across a large building but she couldn't make out what it was as she panted, her eyes closed to avoid seeing the dark dots floating in her vision.
A drop of water fell on her head, then another one and soon, it was raining hard, drenching the wearied girl.
Could this day get even worse?
(Y/N) sighed and fell on her knees, the water splashing underneath her as she did so. Her (insert hair length) hair was drenched completely as well as her clothes. She was aware that if she stayed in the rain, she would eventually catch a cold, but she didn't care. She was unconcerned about anything for once. Nothing, not her grades, not her recent bronze medal, not her parents, not the suffering. Exactly nothing.
Her thoughts were silent and vacant, almost at peace. But she soon began crying, causing her cheeks to flush. Although it appeared to be rain, it wasn't. They were tears, a clear, saline drop of salty liquid.
(Y/N) laughed to herself. How can she be a smart-ass at a time like this? But she stopped right away. Accidentally spotting her could lead someone to believe she is a crazy runaway. Her cheeks were temporarily still red. She felt bad about herself.
She then heard a door creak next to her. When she looked up, she realized that she was actually knelt by a porch. The person behind the open door, however, caught her off guard. He stood out because of his mismatched hair and eyes, which were immediately noticeable.
His deep voice called out, "(Y/N)?"
The two just stood there for a while, trying to make sense of what was happening. (Y/N) finally regained awareness, and her blush darkened.
"T-Todoroki?"
Shoto wasted no time returning home, but he left the door open. (Y/N) continued to crouch on the ground while wailing in shame. The heterochromatic boy dashed to her side carrying an umbrella just as she began to feel foolish and assume that Shoto wouldn't be returning.
"Come in. You're soaking wet." He said, draping a towel on her shoulders.
Standing up, (Y/N) turned to face his mismatched eyes. Shoto cut her off just as she was about to speak.
"Don't say anything. Let's go."
He dragged the awashed girl inside his estate like house. He called for his sister, Fuyumi, to help him dry (Y/N) up. She was more than agog to do so. She was delighted that her younger brother had brought a friend, specifically a girl.
As (Y/N) chose her clothes and was being pulled to her room, Fuyumi forced her to take a shower. Though the girl resisted, she knew she had no choice but to comply. She felt calm and at ease as soon as she finished washing her body. The clothing Fuyumi had prepared for her was soon given to her
"Thank you so much. Is there any way I can repay you?" (Y/N) said gratefully, bowing slightly.
Fuyumi shook her head and told the (insert hair color)-haired girl to raise her head. "It's no problem, really! I should be the one thanking you!"
Fuyumi smiled softly. "Shoto had never brought any friend in his house. I was worried that he was a loner in school. Though, I wouldn't be surprised to be honest. Shoto is quite cold at times."
At times...
"I'm really glad to know that he has at least one friend." Fuyumi smiled.
Was she really considered as his friend? The two teens weren't really that close but aren't enemies either. They were mere acquaintances with each other. Due to the happiness in Fuyumi's eyes, (Y/N) was compelled to hold back what she wanted to say. She was blissful for her brother. Instead of ruining it for her, (Y/N) decided against it.
After the rain stopped, (Y/N) told the Todoroki siblings that she was going back home. It was very late and dark outside and she lied that her parents were probably worried. Despite (Y/N)' argumens with the white-haired girl, Fuyumi had Todoroki accompany her to her home.
"Thank you so much for taking care of me, Todoroki. I'll wash your sister's clothes and bring them back here. I'm sorry if I was a bother--"
"No need to thank me, (L/N). You can keep my sister's clothes. I was the one who volunteered to take you in so don't worry about anything," he stated, "It was something a hero would do."
When Todoroki spoke, (Y/N) warmly grinned. Who would have thought the class's hot and icy guy could be so considerate?
"Todoroki-san," she spoke, "would you like to be friends with me?"
The offer prompted Todoroki's heterochromatic eyes to widen. He may hang out with a few of his classmates, but nobody ever truly made him feel like a friend or even bothered to tell him that they were.
"Friends?" He asked, loss for words at her offer.
"Yeah, you know," (Y/N) made weird hand gestures that reminded Shoto of his denim-haired classmate. " A person who you like and enjoy being with."
When (Y/N) realized it sounded like something else, she flushed. But to the ignorant, innocent boy, this went unnoticed.
"Yeah, okay. I guess it won't hurt to try," Shoto answered, making the (insert hair color)-haired teen to smile brightly.
"Great! I'll see you tomorrow at school during lunch, yeah?"
"Yeah."
As (Y/N) walked away to her home, Shoto was ascertained that he had forgotten to ask the girl why she was in the middle of the street, soaked and crying.
"I'll ask her tomorrow, then," he spoke, turning back to his own domicile.
A/N: I just realized that the qoute didn't really match the story. Sorry.
