Shoto Todoroki x Reader
Shoto wasn't the type of guy to think about love. He didn't even think about the incoming day when he'll begin to receive the signs. He was so focused on his quirk, to strengthen and improve it in order to reject his father. So when he woke up one morning on his fifteenth birthday, he hadn't expected a small cute bunny scribbled on the back of his palm. He examined it carefully and tried to rub it away but his attempt was futile.
He knew he or her sister hadn't done it. Fuyumi doesn't know how to pick-lock his door and he was beyond sure that his father wouldn't do something so... cutely.
When his hetero-chromatic eyes landed on the date with a bright red circle around the number 11 while he was fixing his school tie, he was reminded that starting that day, he will be receiving glyphs from his unknown soulmate. As he walked to school, his mind was thinking about this person that was supposedly the perfect one for him. He lacked the ability to show this certain passion because of his experience in his childhood.
Love? What was love? Was it the feeling of strong and constant affection for a person? Would he immediately feel this chord the moment he will lay his eyes on them? Shoto was clueless to this kind of stuff and he wasn't planning to ask somebody for advises.
Shoto's eyes visibly widened when he saw a black line began to form on his palm. It moved into curves until it formed a Sakura flower. It was fairly drawn and cute in its own way. A smile crept on Shoto's lips.
"How cute."
Since then, Shoto would watch the cute doodles form on his skin. It didn't take him long to figure out that his soulmate was artistic and wasn't afraid to dirty their skin. He would be rarely seen beaming lightly as he looked over the doodles crystallize. He found this amusing and made it his secret hobby to mind their doodles.
One day, letters began to form on the boy's elbows. It was an adress. Shoto had no idea where the place was but he thought it was his soulmate's current destination. Perhaps they were forgetful and needed a reminder for them. Even if he thought of going to this place, he couldn't. He was still in the middle of the class hearing Mr. Shouta teach his lessons. Although, he couldn't focus on listening because of a particular person haunting his mind.
Weren't they supposed to be in school? Were they meeting somebody? Did something happen to them? Questions with unknown answers invaded his mind throughout the whole day, it left him with curiosity.
On a Sunday afternoon, Shoto was strolling down the street. He had just visited his mother from the hospital. They talked about a lot of things like how he was dealing with school, was he studying hard? Did he make any friends?
"So I assume you've been getting signals from your soulmate," His mother said.
Shoto's reply was silent but his expression was contorted into surprise. He hadn't expected his mother to ask about the soulmate thing. He knew this was a very personal topic for her. To not be able to see or meet her soulmate was truly depressing. Her so called husband, Endeavor, forcefully trapped her from the outside world in order for her to avoid seeing her soulmate. He wanted her--no, he wanted her quirk all to himself. Her fate was compellingly changed and she lived miserably. It even got to the point that she snapped and caused pain for her youngest son. Thus, she was sent to a mental hospital for a brain check and make sure she wouldn't do the same thing again.
"Yeah, they have been giving me a lot of cartoons lately," Shoto stated as he stared at his elbow. The cute icon was an arrow with cute designs.
"Ah, they're an artist," she remarked, "Have you met them yet?"
Shoto looked back at his mother, his heart thumping a beat. "No, but I have a feeling I will soon."
