Izuku Midoriya x Reader

"Please come again!" (Y/N) cheered, smiling brightly at the woman who carried a cute little puppy in her arms.

The puppy barked, as if saying goodbye to her. (Y/N) have to restrain herself from snatching the pup and cry.

This job sure is heartbreaking.

(Y/N) worked in an animal shelter where she takes care of poor abandoned creatures as a part-time job. She was quite attached with her appointment since she adores animals. Ranging from bunnies to bears, (Y/N) is inclined to them all.

She went to her spot as the cashier and rested her head on her palm, observing the puppies across the counter wiggle their tails and looking up at strangers passing by. The cute look on their faces were very hard to avoid which caused a couple of students to gather at the glass window, pressing their hands on their little paws. (Y/N) adored the sight every single day.

The bell dinged, indicating a costumer had entered the shelter.

"Welcome to Tenshi Animal Shelter. How can I help you?"

The costumer was a male teen with curly soft looking hair and wide shy eyes. Freckles adorned his bashful features. Raising a finger to his cheek, he asked in a fainthearted voice, "C-Can I pet the animals?"

Petting the animals was free and that was one thing that made the place popular. They could pet the animals until the shelter closes and they wouldn't have to charge bills. This guy was a regular costumer, visiting the harbor quite frequently after school since he still wears his uniform. (Y/N) hadn't engaged any form of conversation with the guy. Perhaps the both of them were too shy to talk to new people.

The teen went to the kittens and crouched. He then started to run a finger on its head and the kitten meowed.

If there was one thing (Y/N) had observed during the times he enters the refuge, it was the sad look evident on his green eyes. They seem to be brokenhearted, lonely and hurt. His clothes seem to be crumpled and dirty at times and his hair would be messy. It was as if he came through an obstacle to reach his destination.

(Y/N) was cut off from her thoughts when she heard the greenette chuckle softly. A pink hue dusted her cheeks upon hearing his melodious laugh.

How cute.

She looked away from his figure, her cheeks brightening each second. The guy was quite a cutie and she still has her hormones so...

There was something in his smile that made her heart flutter. The way the sadness and stress disappears in his bright green eyes and then replaced with peace and beatitude, it made (Y/N) smile to herself. Animals were really the best thing in the world. They could be your stress reliever when you're pressured with your life. They could be your blessedness when you're blue. They're just brimming with positivity and bliss.

Looking at the clock, (Y/N) noticed that five minutes had passed from the usual time the shelter closes. She took a gander at the male student who was petting the hamsters through the gaps. She set her thoughts aside and approached him.

"Hamsters are just the cutest, aren't they?"

Midoriya flinched at the sudden sound beside him. He turned to (Y/N) and stated nervously, "A-Ah, they are. Is the shelter closing? I'm sorry, I haven't been keeping track of the time. I'll take my leave now. H-Have a--"

"Ah, no! You can stay for a little longer if you want."

"Is that alright? Won't your manager get angry?"

"Nah, she understands if I wanted to pet the animals for a few minutes before closing."

"I-I see."

And so, the both of them caressed the animals together, saying goodbye to them and wishing them to have sweet dreams. This was a daily routine for (Y/N) and being with someone was much better than doing it all alone. They would laugh when the animals would do antic gestures and they would gush if they do something cute. They would record everything like they were making a blog.

"I think the parrot is the last one. Shall we go?" (Y/N) asked, facing Midoriya.

"Y-Yeah, it's getting dark outside. I might as well escort you to your house."

Locking the door shut, (Y/N) tucked the keys to her pocket and spoke, "Aw, you don't have to."

"I-I insist!"

It ended up with the both of them walking down the street, talking about each other's lives, quirks and such. Midoriya wasn't as awkward as he used to be in the shelter. He actually felt comfortable conversing with (Y/N). Though, a few sentences could make his blood rush to his cheeks but it wasn't as frequent as it was back then.

They stopped before an apartment.

"This is my stop, Midoriya-kun. Thanks for walking me home. Have a great night."

"You too, (L/N)-san."

As she was about to take one step to the door, Midoriya suddenly quaked, "C-Can I visit the animal shelter tomorrow?"

(Y/N), slightly surprised, smiled as she answered, "Dude, that's your decision to make. Although, I wouldn't mind to have your presence around."

"T-Then I will!"

From that day forward, Midoriya visits the animal shelter everyday just like the usual but this time, no hint of sadness was evident in his bright green eyes.
