Teasing Neji

  Neji scratched the side of his head and said, "Oh, uh, I didn't know you were here too. "

"Uh, I told you that [y/n]'s there in the car and you were a little excited," Hinata laughed with Sakura.

"What?! I probably have forgotten, anyway," Neji said as he walked towards me and grabbed my hand. "Let's go now, [y/n]."

I was looking at the hand Neji was holding, it was bigger than mine, almost similar to Gaara's and his were warmer.

"Uh, alright, I'll show you where you can put your backpack," I said as I led him through the hallway and to the large room.

It was rather odd to me... Holding his hand but I know we're just best friends... Nothing more than that. He removed my hand and said, "Where am I sleeping?"

"Uh, do you have a sleeping bag?" I asked.

"I... Don't, I've never been on a sleepover before," he said.

He can't sleep on the floor, maybe Temari has some extra sleeping bags to hand out, I'll ask her.

"Alright then, I'll I ask Temari if she has extra sleeping bags, alright?" I asked and went out the door. "I'll be back," I added and walked downstairs as I passed by Sakura and Hinata who was heading to the room.

I felt a hint of jealousy having Hinata and Sakura laughing together but I know it's so wrong. I mean she's my best friend and nothing will change that, I think I need to spend more time with her. I grabbed Hinata's shoulder and said, "Hey, Hinata, can I talk to you for a moment?"

She nodded and said, "Uh, sure."

"I'll take your backpack and put it in the room, I'll be there if you need me," Sakura said as she takes the backpack off Hinata's back.

After Sakura left, there was an awkward silence until I broke it. "So... Hinata, it's been quite a while, so, uh how have you been?" I asked with a nervous smile.

"I'm good... How about you? How are you and Neji or whoever you're with?" she asked with the same nervous smile.

"Well, I'm not really with anyone... Neji is just my best friend and anyway, there's a lot to catch up between us, want to take a stroll?" I asked.

"I suppose you're right, we have a lot of catching up to do," she said.

"So, how's you and Naruto?" I asked.

Her expression changed and I could see her gulp and hesitated to talk. "Please Hinata, we're best friends... right?" I asked.

"I guess... Well... N-naruto told me that you told him that I like him and if he spends more time with me and be nice to me... You would..." she mumbled.

"What-"

"You were forcing him to spend time with me and being nice to me, was that your plan all along?" she asked.

"When you put it that way... well, I wanted you to be happy and actually be around him," I said.

"But it wasn't genuine," she said softly as her head went down, her bangs covering her eyes.

I could hear her sniff slightly and tears rolling down her cheeks. My eyes widened, I didn't think this would go this far.

"Hinata, I'm so sorry, I just... I'm sorry," I said as I went closer to hug her as she sniffs more, she's like a soft angel who has fallen in a corrupted world.
