After the funeral was over, people took turns shaking hands and speaking with the Pines family, telling them how sorry they were for their loss and how much they'd miss Stan, and so on. Cif and Gideon attempted to leave the building after it was over, but just then they heard a voice calling them.
It was a young woman's voice. "Excuse me, hello! Gideon? Can I speak to you for a moment?"
Cif and Gideon turned around to see a very small girl in glasses who looked about Dipper and Mabel's age. She was wearing a black skirt and sweater.
"Um, hello?" Gideon asked the girl. "Is there a problem?"
The girl nodded quickly and pushed her glasses closer to her eyes. "Hi, I'm Candy, I'm Dipper's girlfriend, and, um, Mabel's good friend, I've known the Pines family a long time. I don't think I've spoken to either of you before."
Cif shook her head slowly, "No, I don't live here, so probably not," she told the girl.
Gideon looked at the girl and smiled. "It's nice to meet you, this is my, um- this, well, this is Cif, and, um, how do you know my name?"
"Dipper and Mabel have talked about you," Candy explained quietly, "I, well, I just wanted to tell you that I really liked your speech, so did my mom. Even Dipper said it was nice. And thank you, thank you so much for making a speech like that, it was very touching and it meant a lot to the Pines family that you actually showed up here."
Gideon smiled slowly at Candy. "Thank you," he said, surprised and flattered at the same time. "Tell them I was glad to be here."
Just then, Wendy, along with her husband, who was impatiently holding Courtnee while she kept grabbing at his hair, greeted them again.
"Hi Cif, Hi Gideon," She smiled and then looked at Candy. "Oh my gosh, Candy? Is that you? I haven't seen you in forever! Are you and Dipper still together?"
Candy nodded shyly and smiled. "Yes, it's been about a year and a half now, we're very happy."
"That's great! I'm so happy to hear that," Wendy told Candy before looking back at Cif and Gideon. "Oh, I'm so stupid, I forgot to introduce you two to my husband. Sorry guys! Anyways, this is Nate," she told them quickly.
"Nice to meet you," Cif and Gideon both smiled.
"Oh, well I'm going to go have lunch with Dipper and his family," Candy informed the rest of them, "It was nice speaking to you guys. So nice to see you again, Wendy! Well, bye-bye!"
They all waved to her and didn't bother asking if they we invited, because they all knew Gideon wasn't and Cif most likely wasn't, so it was not even worth bringing up.
"How are you guys planning on getting home?" Wendy asked Cif and Gideon.
"I don't really know, we can't drive and Dipper and Mabel just kind of left us, so..." Cif explained blankly and rolled her eyes.
"I guess we'll just walk," Gideon said quietly, "I don't know what else to do."
Wendy shook her head quickly. "Oh, don't be silly, you are not going to have to walk home! It's not that small of a town. Nate and I were planning on taking Court to this really good place that has the best ice cream you will ever eat! We'd be delighted if you guys would want to go!"
Cif smiled. She was relieved they wouldn't have to walk home and she really did love ice cream. "Thank you so much, I'd love to!"
Gideon nodded and agreed. "I haven't had ice cream in, like, five years! That would be great."
"Oh, well that's wonderful, I'm so glad to hear that. It'll be a lot of fun! We go there all the time!" Wendy smiled and looked at Cif and Gideon and then at her daughter.
