Piedras Negras, Mexico

The gray building looked almost abandoned if not for the music coming from inside. The small cantina, located on the busy street of Aguas Clara, was smoky and loud. It was a place for the locals, mostly farmers, to hang out after work and have a drink. Known as Arco Iris, The Rainbow, it had a reputation of being on the shady side of town and bar fights were an everyday occurrence. Today the Arco Iris was especially busy, being a Friday.

The bartender, Pedro, noticed three pretty American girls that had walked in over two hours ago. One of them made a friend with another American guy but the other two were sitting in front of him. The shortest one was in pretty bad shape.

Skylar Elizabeth Montgomery sat at the bar licking salt off of her wrist as she took another shot of tequila. While sucking on the lime, she thought back on the past few hours.

She finally made it. After three years of law school she finally graduated at the top of her class. Now it was time to party. Wanting to celebrate, she called her two college friends, Christina Ramirez and Lisa Pritchard, and took them to Mexico for the weekend. Skylar "borrowed" the family jet from Georgia and sweet talked the pilot, Jamie Franklin, to fly them without her father's permission. She knew handsome Jamie with piercing green eyes, had a crush on her and promised him a date if he did this one little favor for her. Since he'd wanted to date her for over a year, he happily obliged.

Jamie was really handsome but didn't attract her for some reason. He was slender rather than tall. He stood taller than Skylar but not by much. Girls were usually attracted to his green eyes and lop sided smile but not her. Christina had a major crush on Jamie but when she tried playing matchmaker, it backfired and Jamie confessed his attraction to Skylar. The one thing that did catch Skylar's attention was Jamie's long ink black straight hair and golden tan. Jamie was always a reliable friend... but that was it. She felt a little guilty for using Jamie for this excursion but she wanted to leave tonight, not wait for a flight in a couple of days. It was a spur of the moment idea and she needed a change of scenery.

Lisa, always being the cautious one, was afraid of the adventure but Skylar, turned on her charm and had Lisa in the plane before she could give another objection. Christina was up for the trip and jumped at the idea almost immediately.

Skylar smiled at the ease of convincing Lisa. Her mother always said she could convince a saint to sin with her charm and wit. She knew being a lawyer was in her future and didn't want to disappoint her mother, even though she'd been dead for over twelve years.

Shaking her head to clear her thoughts, Skylar reached for the salt. As she was shaking more salt on her wrist, she accidentally spilled some on the bar making her giggle.

"Doesn't this feel great?" Christina practically yelled over the music in the bar. Skylar just smiled and took another shot of tequila. "You'd better take it easy or you'll lose control and do something you might regret."

"It's about time I let a little loose, don't you think?" Skylar was slurring her words just a bit. Christina sent her a sympathetic smile and stepped back out on the dance floor with the same cowboy she'd been with since they walked in.

His name was Sean O'Brien from Texas. Sean came to this bar to meet some of his college friends who were expected to arrive at any moment. When he noticed the girls walking into the bar, he felt a need to be a chaperone to them since they obviously didn't know the bar's reputation. Sean observed as the locals watched the girls. They weren't being very polite in their comments but lucky for the girls, they didn't seem to understand Spanish. Sean made his presence known to the girls and had been with them for the past two hours. He mostly danced with Christina. She was tall and graceful. Just his type with her bright auburn hair that gleamed with shadows of deep gold and green eyes, like polished jade. She was breathtaking. He found her more fun than her friends.
