They were on their way back to New York, staying a little longer than expected but Skylar didn't complain. Her days in Texas were filled with fun and love. Her new extended family welcomed her better than her own. Matthew's brothers and sisters-in-law were wonderful, and Faye treated her like a daughter. Skylar will miss them but Faye made them promise they would come back for another visit soon.

Skylar looked to the left. Matthew slept, which wasn't surprising. He seemed so full of energy every night. Her face burned as she remembered how they made passionate love each night. She had to stop herself from crying out in passion since Faye came home the next day after their wedding. A soft and loving curve touched her lips at the thought.

"I hope you're thinkin' 'bout me." His silky voice broke into her reverie.

"Of course," she replied as she leaned over and kissed him.

The plane arrived at five o'clock in the afternoon. As they were collecting their bags, Matthew broached the subject of her father. He felt it would be better if they went straight to his hotel room and broke the news to him in person rather than him finding out from someone else. Skylar wasn't ready yet but Matthew insisted the whole cab ride there.

Leaving their suitcases at the front desk with a very helpful concierge, Matthew practically dragged her through the lobby to the elevators.

"He was helpful," Matthew commented as they waited for the elevator.

Skylar was pacing. "Of course he was. Once you mention the Montgomery name, people fall all over themselves to be helpful." Matthew didn't miss the venom in her voice. "I'm nervous," she said as they stepped into the elevator.

"'Bout what? He's your father for God's sakes. There's nothin' to be nervous 'bout." He grabbed her hands and forced her to stop pacing. "I'm here."

"I know and I'm glad." She gave his hand a squeeze before letting them go and started pacing again. "I just don't know how he's going to take the news."

"He has no choice." Although his voice was smooth and comforting, secretly he was a little intimidated by her father. From all the magazines he'd read and the research he'd done, Nicholas Montgomery was not a man you wanted to cross and have as an enemy.

"What would Og Mandino do if he were in this situation?" she asked nervously.

"He'd face his fear head on. Treat this like a case and he's the jury."

She kept pacing. "He's more like a judge. A hanging judge."

He chuckled. "Baby, don't let him see you're afraid. You have nothin' to be afraid of." He grabbed her by the shoulders and lowered himself to her eye level. His soft blue eyes held hers. "You're an adult and you've made a decision regardin' your life. A good decision I might add." He straightened.

His voice and touch quickly relaxed her. "Thank you, I needed that." Reaching up on tiptoes, she placed a quick kiss on his lips but he wanted more. His arms slipped off her shoulders and locked against her spine, crushing her to him as he pressed his mouth to hers. Immediately, her body turned to flame. Passion rose with each stroke of his tongue in her mouth. Pressing herself closer, he deepened the kiss. Leaning against the elevator wall, he spread his legs a little wider, accommodating her between them as she rested against him. His erection pressed into her belly made her groan. Through the haze of passion, an idea formed in her head so she tore her lips from his. "I have a great idea. Let's go home right now and make love all night."

His breathing was as labored as hers was. "That's a great idea but we'll do that after we talk to your father."

She groaned and pulled out of his embrace just as the elevator stopped. Skylar stepped out of the elevator and quickly walked down the hall to her father's door. Matthew followed, after adjusting his jacket to cover his passion. Skylar took a quick glance behind her to make sure Matthew was still there. Taking a deep breath, she knocked on the door.
