Happy birthday to me.

"Happy birthday!" Autumn sped to me when I reached the bottom of the stair case. I didn't have time to react and catch her when she jumped. Needless to say, we collapsed on the ground. My argument was, I was still in my zombie zone and fighting the urge to sleep the day away in my bed. I haven't gotten much sleep the past year since I saw Carlos.

"My birthday doesn't start until I get a cup of coffee in my belly." I said getting back up and not bothering to help her.

"You have 15 minutes. We have a lot of celebrating traditions to do! We can finally see rated R movies without sneaking you in!" Autumn acted as if it was the most glorious thing in the world.

"Coffee." I whispered pouring a cup for myself. I smiled as I breathed in its special aroma. I gulped half of it down before turning towards the bright and happy early bird. If she hadn't made so much noise in my kitchen, I would still be asleep at 9 in the morning. There was something different about her. "Spill it."

"Nope, its a surprise." She twirled towards the fridge and tossed me the Eggo's box. I put them in a toaster and grabbed us cups as she threw me the Orange Juice. "What's this?" She was reading something on the fridge.

"Read it to me." I said pouring.

"'Silver, don't bother coming to kick boxing anymore. We will refund this months money. Dan.' Under that it asks 'what did you do to get kicked out this time.'" She turned her critical eyes at me.

"Don't give me that look. All I did was break a jaw when I kicked someone's face. It's not my fault they didn't put the head pads on right." I took a sip of my orange juice and put my coffee cup in the sink.

"Silver, you know to go easy on humans!" She muttered while buttering her eggos.

"He wasn't human." I said around a bite.

"Which is why you definitely shouldn't have done that! What was he?" She asked.

"By the smell of it, a werewolf."

She froze. Last time we ran into one a few months ago, she was bit by an Alpha and it took us forever to track him down and influence him to reverse the bite.

I finished my eggo when the door bell rang. I got up and left Autumn there to marvel in her gourmet boxed waffle to open the door. Dad was there with a bunch of presents in his arms. I took half of them and smiled "You're awake? Are you sick?" He mocked.

"Shut up. There was a loud intruder that had woke me up and that's robbing us of our waffles in the kitchen." I set the presents down on the coffee table with the ones he had.

"Autumn's here?" He asked. "I knew giving her a key would bite us someday." He joked and I couldn't help but laugh.

"Where's mom?" I asked.

"Dropping Aunt Helda off at the airport. Her neighbor called and said her cat was having trouble and she needed to get back. It was a Catastrophe there." He smiled at his joke. I shook my head.

"God that's a horrible name."

"You always say that." He sat on the couch and I curled up next to him.

"It's always true." I looked at the table. "When do I get to open them?"

"Your mom should be here soon so when she gets back." He glanced at his clock before turning on the Tv to watch the news. Autumn rolled in liking Syrup off her hand and she plunged onto the other couch.

"Hello?" Mom said opening the door and knocking. She saw us in the living room and smiled. "Happy birthday baby." She picked me up in a hug. She pinched my cheeks and told me it was from Aunt Horrible. I rolled my eyes and grabbed the biggest box.
