Valencia scowls, her face burning red as she's held back by the guard, watching as a woman she used to love is dragged towards the wooden stake.
Her ex lover, the one that left her for the woman who was about to kill her.
Agnes, was found to be a witch.
And now she was about to be burnt to death.
"AGNES- GOD-" Valencia squirmed, feeling the grip on her wrists tighten.
Her short now messy hair falling in her fear filled ruby red eyes, her dark skin bruised and bloody, she looked a mess to be honest.
She wore dirty rags that were ripped in places, exposing her beaten muscular body.
She had been held in captivity for three almost four weeks until her ex girlfriend was found to be a witch.
And she was dragged out to watch the execution, her wrists bound together, being forced onto her knees, the guards holding her down as she was forced to watch.
"Agnes Frost, I find you guilty of being a witch. You are sentenced to death by burning." A higher up guard announces loudly.
Guards and villagers start whooping, yelling in success, some screaming 'burn her' others yelling 'send her away'.
Valencia winces, her heart aching.
She was next, as she exposed that she was a vampire.
Agnes winced, her long brown hair curly resting on her shoulders, wearing a long blood red dress, poofing out at the hips, silver embroidery all over it, her sleeves poofy.
She looked like a princess.
That was one of the things Valencia had loved about her, she had beautiful light blue eyes and she always managed to make herself look like an angel.
She was witty, dorky, happy and kind and so so loving.
Valencia admired her.
She was so special.
But now Valencia only saw her as a friend, but she still deeply cared about her and didn't want to lose her.
"SHE ISN'T A WITCH- CUNTS- LET HER GO, NOW-" she's stopped as one of the guards cover her mouth, her body squirming as she tries to get out of the mans grip.
Agnes watched her friend argue and squirm, a sad smile on her face as she's tied to the wooden stake, watching as hay and sticks are thrown by her feet and legs.
The woman she married, the Lady of the village, watching, a permanent blank expression on her face.
It broke Agnes' heart.
She truly loved the Lady, and the Lady loved her.
And unfortunately? The Lady can't stop the execution from happening.
She looked away, leaving the balcony and going back inside the building.
Agnes winces, taking a deep shaky breath as she tries not to let the fear build up in her.
Before holding her head up high.
"ALL US FANTASY CREATURES DESERVE TO BE EQUAL" she screams.
Before the hay and sticks go up in flames.
Valencia screams, her horrified screams muffled as she kicks and screams, her eyes wide in horror, tears streaming down her bloody face.
The hand is removed, back to holding her wrist.
"OH GOD- OH GOD AGNES- FUCK-" She chokes, sobbing loudly as she's now dragged towards the stake.
But before she can be thrown into the flames, someone stabs the guard carrying her straight in the neck with their sword, in one swipe, taking the guards head off.
Travis pants for breath as he stabs another guard, quickly snatching Valencia up. His cat ears twitching as he holds her tightly, his eyes darting to the burning stake.
And he realises, he can't save her. She's gone.
He watches as a few other people who came to help him save Agnes and Valencia fight off the guards.
And he legs it, using the rope to climb back up onto the walls around the village, cutting Valencia's bindings, before being kicked in the back, almost falling off the wall, but quickly grabbing onto the crumbling rocks.
"GAH-" he yells, watching his sword drop to the floor, hitting a guard in the head.
Valencia quickly used the rope that was around her wrists to strangle the guard, before throwing him off the wall and helping Travis back up.
He pulls her into a tight hug, tangling his fingers in her hair as he hugs her, shushing her softly.
"I know" he whispers.
And she breaks, tears streaming down her face as she clings to him, sobbing. Completely and utterly defenseless as she breaks down in Travis' arms.
Letting him carry her as he escapes, the other people who were helping following behind.
"C'mon, let's go."
-
Two years later.
-
Valencia groans softly as she sits up, rubbing the back of her neck.
She looks out the window, tilting her head slightly.
The sun rising.
It was five in the morning.
She slipped out of bed, pulling off her pajamas and getting changed.
She pulled on black high waisted pants, her thigh high maroon boots and adjusted her silk shirt with a V cut, exposing some of her chest. The sleeves rolled up.
She put in her earrings, slipping on her beaded bracelets as she brushes her hair with her fingers, blinking slowly as she looks into the mirror.
She mumbled to herself as she adjusted her hooped earing.
She only wore earrings in one ear, her left.
The right side of her hair slightly longer than the left, but it was short. Just under her ears. The black mess slightly curled, but mostly just fluffy. It shaped her face well. Her muscular arms shown off through her silky v cut shirt showing her scar on her chest from where she was stabbed once.
Narrowly missed death.
Really lucky, to be honest. If it wasn't for a guard, she would be dead right now.
Shame she still hates the guard.
She rubs her hands together as she walks over to the door, opening it and stepping out into the hallway, making her way down the spiral staircase.
She walked into the large kitchen, immediately beginning to make breakfast for her housemates.
Two hours later, the ladies are now awake eating breakfast, talking quietly.
Not all the girls were talkative, others were kinda loud. But they all got on!
A surprise really, Valencia had thought to herself.
She sighs as she adjusts her belt, attaching her sheath with her sword in "Uh Carli will look after you girls today, I'm off for another mission" she purrs, running her fingers through one of the girls' hair.
"See you later, Valencia."
"Breakfast was lovely!"
"Bye! Stay safe."
There were only four girls, one of them didn't speak at all, Penny.
Valencia was intrigued by her, saved her not that long ago from slavery. She saved the others from other scenes.
But Penny seemed familiar.
She swore she knew her brother.
But all things that are talked about in the safe house stay in the safe house. She isn't allowed to tell anyone else, nor would she choose to.
Nobody is meant to know who is in the safe house.
The rules.
1. No talking to outsiders about the women in the safe house.
2. No men.
3. No smoking inside the house.
4. No drinking on the property.
5. No searching for family.
6. If you leave the safe hours, you must bring a worker with. And you MUST hide identity.
All the girls Valencia and the other workers take in are in hiding from bad people and need to be protected.
Valencia sighs, rubbing her neck as she steps out of the building, taking a cigarette out and putting it in between her teeth as she rummaged around, walking out the gates, making sure they're fully closed.
She starts walking deep into the forest, until she's on a path.
They have the safe house deep in the forest, away from any paths. So they can avoid people finding them.
She groans as she catches sight of bandits, yelling and screaming, slowly removing her cigarette and puffing out smoke, looking at the lit thing in between her fingers, remembering her friend, Agnes.
But she shakes it off, looking up ahead as she takes a deep breath of the smoke again, puffing out rings.
She makes her way towards the bandits, snatching out her sword.
"Let's go."
