Chapter One: The Nightmare and Affection

Narration~
One late winter night in Ninjago, all the citizens were sound asleep in their beds. At the monastery, the ninja were also getting ready for sleep as well. Soon enough, they had all fallen asleep, peacefully enjoying their dreams, well, all except for Kai.

Kai's Point of View~
I kept tossing and turning as I was sleeping. I was having the worst nightmare that I've experienced in a long time. In my dream, something happened, something bad. I felt as if I were a completely different person, and I didn't have control over my own body and mind. Ninjago City was in ruins and in flames, with innocent people screaming in terror. I was the one that was causing all the destruction. Zane and Nya were trying to put out the flames, and Sensei, Jay, and Cole were gathering the people and bringing them to safety. Lloyd and I had come face-to-face. I had a smirk on my face and was laughing. Lloyd had tears in his eyes. "Kai! Why would you do this?! This isn't who you are!" He shouted. I only mocked him and then threw a punch, knocking him into a pile of debris. I raised my hand as it burst into flames to finish him off. But before I could deliver it, the whole world seemed to rumble, and I realized that someone was shaking me.

Lloyd's Point of View~
I was gently shaking Kai so he'd wake up. "Kai, wake up. C'mon, it's 10:45." I said. He woke up with a jolt and was breathing heavily and sweating a bit. "It's okay Kai, you were just dreaming," I told him as I put my hand on his shoulder and looking into his eyes. He sighed and wiped his forehead. "How 'bout you get washed up and meet the rest of us in the living room for breakfast?" I said as I smiled and getting up from the side of his bed. "O-okay, see you," Kai said as he yawned and stretched. I chuckled and said, "Okay, see ya." And I left the room, and down the hall.

Kai's Point of View~
I get up from my bed and went to the bathroom. What the heck was I dreaming of last night? Well, whatever it was, I hope that it isn't a reoccurring dream. I thought as I finished using the bathroom. I made my way to the living room and took a quick peek into the kitchen. I noticed that Cole was making breakfast, and rolled my eyes. Everyone else was discussing what to watch on tv while we eat. "I say we watch 'Fear Factor'," Jay suggested. "No way. I'm not watching a show with rats or any other gross stuff things while I'm eating!" Nya complained. Heh, typical Nya. I thought. Lloyd turned his head around in my direction and smiled. "Oh, hey Kai, you know what you wanna watch?" He said. "Heh, I don't mind watching what you guys choose," I said as I sat down on the couch, next to Lloyd. "How 'bout something funny from YouTube?" Lloyd suggested. Everyone chattered in agreement. "Okay, that's fine with me," Nya said. "Okay, I'll get the tv hooked up to the cable." Said Zane as he grabbed the remote and plugs in the cable.

Narration~
About 15 minutes later, everyone was sitting on the couch, eating breakfast. And it turns out that Cole's cooking wasn't all bad, it actually tasted pretty good.

Lloyd's Point of View~
I took another bite of the toast that Cole had made and it didn't taste burnt like he usually makes it. "Wow Cole, I didn't know you could make a good breakfast," I said to him. "I told you guys that I could make something good!" Cole said with a smug look on his face. "Yeah, but you still can't cook dinner. Not after what happened last time." Jay said. We all laughed at Jay's comment. As we were watching the videos, I was laughing a lot throughout it.

{Time Skip~}

Soon we all finished eating our breakfast and I thought maybe we all could do something fun. "Hey guys, I just thought of something that we could probably do today. You know, since we don't have any training today." I said. "And what would that be?" Zane asked. "I was thinking that we could go to the Ninjago City Mall and hang out," I said. Everyone spoke in agreement and nodded. "Okay, we'll go at 1:00, and right now, it's 11:30, so we have an hour and a half to get ready." Said Nya. We all nodded and everyone went to their rooms. I took a nice warm shower and then went to my room and I looked through my closet and drawers and got a pair of jeans, a shirt, and my green jacket. I got dressed and brushed my hair. When I finished, I placed my brush on the dresser and stared at myself straight in the eye. I've gotta tell Kai how I feel. It's not like I can keep these emotions locked inside forever. But, what if he doesn't feel the same way? Or what if he thinks of me as a freak, and doesn't want to have anything else to do with me? I thought. I guess I was making myself more nervous about confessing by thinking about the bad things that could happen. "But, what if he does feel the same way? Could...could we actually have a shot at it?" I asked myself. Then, I heard a knock at my door. I went over and opened it to see Kai, standing in front of me. "O-oh, hey Kai, um, what's up?" I stammered out, trying to get the words out. "Oh, hey Lloyd. I was just coming to see if you were ready because everyone's waiting for you in the living room." He said. "Oh, uh, yeah, I'm coming. I was just making sure I had everything." I said nervously. "Well, okay, I'll be with the others until you're ready," Kai said as he began to walk back the hall. "Wait!" I said, grabbing his wrist. "Huh? What is it, Lloyd?" Kai asked as he turned around to face my way. "I...I have something to tell you, and it's pretty important to me." I say. "I have something to tell you to Lloyd," Kai said as he let out a small sigh. He came into the room and we both sat down on my bed. "Lloyd, I...I like you...a lot, and I always have. I feel as if we're more than just allies. It's okay if you don't feel the same way." Kai said as he lowered his head. I felt my cheeks heat up a bit and my eyes widen. "You...you do? You like me?" I asked him. Kai nodded slowly and slightly looked up at me. His cheeks were a bright shade of red. "I...I like you too, Kai. I always have. The reason I didn't tell you was because I was afraid of you thinking of me as a freak or you rejecting me." I said. Then, I felt Kai's embrace upon me and I realized that he was hugging me.

Kai's Point of View~
I was so relieved and happy that Lloyd liked me the same way as I do about him. And then, without even thinking it, I had given Lloyd a small kiss on his cheek. I could feel my face heat up and could tell that my own cheeks were red. "I...I...um, it..." I stammered out, trying to come up with an explanation. But Lloyd didn't look weirded out or something like that, instead, he smiled his adoring smile. "It's okay." He said before then softly pressing his lips against my own. When Lloyd did that, I felt a warm and fuzzy feeling in my heart. We pulled away from the kiss and stared into each other's eyes and smiled. "C'mon, the others are probably wondering what's taking us so long." Said Lloyd as he walked to the door. I nodded and we walked down the hall, and to the living room. "There you two are! What took ya?" Jay said in a loud tone. "Oh, um, Lloyd was helping me look for my headphones." I blurted out. Then, I took out my pair of red and black headphones. "Well, now that you have them, let's get going," Cole said as he got up. We all went outside and conjured our elemental dragons and flew off to the mall.
