I wake up to the absence of Tobias. I see a note on the nightstand, though.
Meet me in our spot. I love you. Happy birthday!

I smile and slip out from under the covers and make the bed. I go to the closet. I pick out dark, ripped jeans and black flats. Then I go to my drawers and find a nice black shirt that shows my tattoos. I go into the bathroom and put on nude lipstick and some eyeliner. I step out of our apartment and grab a muffin from the dining hall. Then I go to our spot in the Chasm.
"Hey," I say. He smiles and kisses me.
"Happy birthday," he says, I blush and smile.
"Thanks," I say.
"Zeke's throwing a formal party at six, cause you're Six," he says. "Like, all of Dauntless is going to be there."
"Really?" I ask. He nods.
"They don't miss birthday parties," he says.
"Oh," I say. "Well last time I checked it was two o'clock, so it's probably three right now." He nods.
"We'll go back to the apartment at about four-thirty," he says.
"Okay," I say.
"Let's go to the dining hall," Tobias says.
"Okay," I say, and grab his hand.
"Zeke wants us to be there before everyone else, though. The group I mean," he says, pressing his lips together. He's hiding something.
"Why?" I ask.
"Reasons," he says. I eye him suspiciously. "It's a surprise," he says, I groan. We reach the dining hall and we both get some Dauntless cake and sit with our group.
"Happy birthday!" They all scream. The Dauntless whoop and pump their fists and stomp their feet. It dies down and Tobias kisses me. We finish our cake and throw the plates away. We sit back down at the table. Zeke stands on the table.
"Hey!" He screams. "Formal party at my place at six. Birthday party for Tris!" He continues.
"Stand up," Tobias whispers. I stand up and Zeke pulls me on the table. He grabs my arm and holds my hand up. I smile. Everyone goes back to their lunch and I sit back down. So does Zeke. "We're going to go get ready," Tobias says. He takes my hand and we walk to our apartment. I go to our closet and pick out a few dresses while Tobias changes in the bathroom. Christina said she wants me to dress myself, sometimes she treats me like a child. I pick out a short dress that's purple at the top and black at the bottom, the bottom is tight. I also pick out a black dress that stops above my knees and is tight with ruffles. I pick out a third that's purple and just like the all black one. Tobias steps out in a button up shirt that's tucked in to black dress pants and black dress shoes. I step into the bathroom and try on the purple and black one. I take it off and set it to the side. I don't think I'll wear that one. I put on the black one, then the purple one. I step out in the purple one.
"Tobias, I don't know which one to wear. This one in purple, or black?" I ask.
"Wear purple," he says. I smile.
"Thanks," I say. I change into the purple one and put on dark red lipstick, I do a black smokey eye, and use eyeliner and mascara. I put the other two dresses back and grab some black heels. I put on a black cardigan that stops at my elbows. I step into the living room. Tobias is turned around, obviously thinking about something. I poke the back the back of his head. "What were you thinking about?" I ask.
