Chapter 26

Marlene POV

Where is Uriah? He's been gone almost 30 minutes just getting food! Im still in the infirmary and Lucas left about an hour ago after Uriah got a change of clothes. 'Cause of course, he was wearing his pajamas.

The doctors say I can go home soon, but I don't know how soon. The infirmary is so, infirmary-like. It makes me very uncomfortable. My head still throbs sometimes so I don't talk much because talking just makes it worse. The door opens relieving Uriah.

"Hey Mar." He says. I turn on my side to face him and half smile.

"Hey, your back." I say with a raspy voice.

"I only went to get food, besides I wouldn't leave you here alone in," he shudders, "here." He says. I manage to stifle a laugh and he smiles.

"Marlene," he sighs and puts his thumb on my cheek moving it in circular motions.

"I'm so sorry for the way i've been acting. I'm really, really sorry. Please don't take it personal, it's just," he sighs again, "this time of year is tough for me." He says sadly.

What does he mean by that? Am I missing something?

"What do you mean?" I asked confused.

He raises an eyebrow. "Um, my dad..." He mumbles looking at the ground.

Oh my gosh. I completely forgot! His dad died when he was little, about this time of year. Idiot idiot IDIOT!

He chuckles, "Mar it's alright. Your not an idiot."

I must've said that out loud.

"Uriah," I say putting my hand on his-the one that's on my cheek-. "Im so sorry."

"It's ok Marlene. I just ask one thing." He says.

"Sure." I reply.

"Will you be my girlfriend, again?" He says.

"Of course." I smile. There's this quote, and it fits this moment perfectly.

Can we start over?

Can we be strangers again?

Let my introduce myself

We can laugh and talk

And relearn what we already know

And come up with new inside jokes

And make new memories

And give each other

A second chance.
