Walking towards the school, Naruto started to pick up his pace. Only the third week of junior year and already he was running late. School was going to start in about ten minutes and the harshest history teacher in the school, Mr. Uchiha would really degrade him. Coincidentally, the teacher was Sasuke's uncle. Outside of school the man was a complete goofball. In school he was as strict as can be and his eyes could kill if they really wanted to. The only time he let down his guard was when the health teacher, Ms. Nohara came into the room.
Use Ms. Nohora on him! Then he'll be a bit calmer! Naruto stage whispered to himself as he jogged up to the front door. The boy flashed his I.D pass to the front desk and sprinted down towards the English/History hallway. With just two minutes to spare, he slid into the history class, and gave a smirk.
"YOU'RE LATE." Mr. Uchiha yelled. Naruto turned around on his heel, brushing of some dust on his sweatshirt and tilted his head, giving a look of mock confusion.
"Really? But that clock over your head says I'm early to the classroom. By two minutes," Naruto retorted smoothly as he walked to his seat. "And right now, as I walk towards my seat, it says I'm one minute away from a penalty detention," Pulling the chair out, Naruto set his backpack on the table and slipped into the chair. The blonde crossed his legs on the table with a smug smirk covering his face. "And as of 7:45, I am seated in my chair, ready to learn." The class burst out laughing at their class clown's usual wit and Naruto smiled with pride.
Mr. Uchiha folded his arms and rolled his eyes, sighing and giving a small smile. Even though his blond haired disruptive student was often loud during class lessons the boy was bright teen and, he predicted, someone who would be important in the future.
"True there, Mr. Uzumaki. But, if you're so ready to learn, can you explain your recent grade on the history exam?... It isn't quite as high as I expected it to be." Naruto quickly put his legs down and stood up, bowing. The class 'oohed', some even holding back their laughs at their unpredictable teacher's comeback.
"I tremendously apologize for my behavior. So, you really don't need to say anything more about my grade, -ttebayo!" Naruto resigned, his eyes pleading Mr. Uchiha not to say anything more about his grade. The dark haired teacher feigned thought for a moment before submitting completely.
"Sit down Mr. Uzumaki. As fun and games go, you are on time. But in the future, try and get here a bit earlier. I do my start my lessons five minutes before the bell so we get more class time." The teacher walked to his desk.
Naruto sighed and fell back into his chair violently. The chair made a screeching sound loud enough to hurt anyone's ears in betrayl. Mr. Uchiha turned his head, giving a chilling look, to which Naruto again bowed in apology. The teacher made a quick gesture for him to sit down and Naruto complied, smushing his face against the table and grumbling.
"Alright, class! Today's topic will be on the social hierarchy structure in Konohagakure. Our town serves as a basis for many towns and cities outside of the district, so its important to learn of these hierarchies by using Konoha as an example. One of the major structures in relation to our subject was created around Tobirama Senju, the founder's younger brother. He overtook the position of leader when Hashirama Senju passed away. To learn more, watch the movie I'm putting on today. Take notes, it's gonna be on the finals. I have to dash to a quick meeting so Ms. Nohara will come and stay with you all for a while." Mr. Uchiha pointed to the the woman waving by the door.
Ms. Nohara was easily one of the most pretty teachers in the school. Many of the single male teachers had crushes on her, including the famed history teacher. Her big brown eyes shined with excitement, her soft but firm voice: a born leader. It also didn't help that her personality and intelligence were added into the mix. Mr. Uchiha took a quick glance at the health teacher and smiled a blushing smile, then dashed out of the room.
Using that for blackmail! Take that, Mr. Uchiha! Naruto schemed. He had to to get back at him for the test stunt he pulled earlier.
"Hello everyone! If you don't know already, I'm Ms. Nohara, head of the health department. Mr. Uchiha has some urgent business to take care of so I'm going to play the video. As he just said, remember to take notes- it'll be on your exams." Ms. Nohara flicked off the lights and started the hour long documentary. The room turned dark and the brightness of the movie screen reflected on the walls.
Naruto grumbled as he folded his arms on the table. "Ugh, I ain't doing this. Even though my text grades suck, I know all about Konohagakures social hierarchy. Old man Jiraiya made me." The blonde rested his head sideways, facing the left. He widened his eyes, surprised to find his 'girlfriend', Hinata sitting next to him. In front of her were notes already written about the movie.
Had she watched it already? Naruto wondered. As he looked at her, his heart did the weird thing it had been doing for the past two weeks since he and Hinata began 'dating'. Hinata was asleep, music softly playing in her ears, face half buried in her arms. The glow of the movie projector hit her face gently but nearly completely so Naruto could see her whole face light as day.
As he plugged his own headphones in and played music on his phone, he kept staring at Hinata. Burying his face into his arms as well, he watched the way she breathed softly. It mesmerized him, the way she slept. She looked so peaceful.
A shock of her dark indigo hair fell in her face, and Naruto made the motion to tuck it back. As soon as he did, he pulled his hand back, wondering what was going on. He dreamed of this opportunity to do with Sakura, but... but something was happening.
Hinata was making him think weirdly. Pushing away his thoughts he dreamt of Sakura, and the make out session that was sure to come.
"IT'S CALLED LOVE, FOR GOD SAKE! YOU'RE ACTUALLY KILLING ME NOW, DAD." I groaned. I tossed the big pillow Himawari had sewn in her art class up in the air harder. So frustrated with my dad's idiocy I was threatened to rip it open.
But I didn't, because Hima would kill me.
Dad was laying on the ground now, still stroking the red scarf. He closed his eyes and smiled.
"Well, I didn't know. I wasn't taught in love all that well."
"WHAT ABOUT GRANDPA AND GRANDMA?"
"Okay, I take that back. I really was an idiot. Still, it was all worth it in the end."
The hour passed by slowly, or speedily, depending on who you are. Naruto had at one point gone back to staring at Hinata and had yet to look away since. He was still trying to figure out what it was about her that was making him sick. Maybe he should consult a doctor? Naruto shook the thought away. His mom would panic over it too much. She really could get overbearing sometimes.
Besides, this only happened around Hinata. Maybe it was a perfume? A lotion she used? Naruto made a mental note to buy Hinata a perfume that he wouldn't insight this sickly and heart pounding reaction.
Flick! The lights turned on and Naruto rubbed his eyes. After taking a few seconds to remember what he was doing and where he was, the blonde gently woke up Hinata. Hinata's oale eyes blinked open tiredly through beautiful long lashes. Just like that, Naruto's heart suffered through another jolt. A panicked feeling went though him, thoughts of death racing to his mind.
Oh, for dear Kami's sake, I don't wanna die from a heart attack! Naruto rubbed his arms, packing his stuff up. He turned to look at Hinata. The girl was gently carding through her binder to put the note sheet away.
"Rough night?" He asked. Hinata looked up and gave a tired smile.
"Yeah, a lot of stuff was going on at my house last night. Didn't get much sleep." Hinata yawned. Slinging her backpack on, she smiled and asked what Naruto's next class was.
"Oh, it's Psychology, you?"
"Business. It's close, so would you like to walk together?"
"Yeah, sure."
With that, the two walked out of the class. Neither was yet aware of the hardships that would soon confront them.
