Naruto stared at the girl speaking right at front and center of the auditorium stage. First day of junior year the smartest students give out a speech to welcome the class.

"I hope this year will be a illustrious one like our last. We can show those seniors who's better! Without a doubt, that's us." It earned laughs throughout the audience and the speaker smiled.

"Once again, I'm Hinata Hyūga. Let's have an awesome start, grade eleven of Konoha Academy!" She exclaimed cheerfully. The assembly was then over, and the students were sent off to their respective classes.

'Hinata Hyūga, huh?' Naruto thought as he shuffled out of the auditorium. Distracted by thoughts of the indigo haired girl, he slammed right into the opening doors.

"Oi, Dobe! You okay?" Someone called out. Naruto rubbed his head and glanced up, frowning.

"Does it look like I'm okay, Teme?" Naruto pouted. The boy rolled his eyes.

"Ay, Sasuke-kun, you know he isn't always in the right state of mind in the morning. His mom made him wake up too early." A pink haired girl followed quickly behind the first boy. Another guy came behind her and gave a small smile.

"Yes, Sakura, Sasuke. Naruto is very out of the real world. Well, considering he's like that everyday, this normal." The last guy bluntly said. Sakura and Sasuke burst out laughing and Naruto was about ready to beat up the man.

"SAI! THATS REALL MEAN, -TTEBAYO!" Naruto screeched. Sai looked confused.

"Why are you upset? And why are you two laughing? I didn't say anything funny, I said the truth." Sai said again, making the situation even worse. Sasuke and Sakura were on the verge of tears and Naruto sat in a corner, depressed. They all knew Sai meant what he said but didn't understand how the person receiving his words felt.

"A-Anyways," Sakura said, panting from all her laughter. "Anyways, we'd better head up to the commons. We have to get our schedules!" The girl ran out, knowing that the three boys behind her would follow.

Naruto, Sasuke, and Sakura met in first grade and, ever since then, the trio had been inseparable. Sai came along in seventh grade. At first, Naruto and Sakura hated him.

Back then, Sasuke started hanging out with some bad kids, like Suigetsu and Karin. Jugo wasn't as bad but once he got angry it was a whole other story.

Sai was being very rude, unintentional and unnoticed at the time, about Sasuke and it made Naruto and Sakura want to tear him limb from limb. In the end, the two became very close with Sai, and helped him understand empathy.

Soon, Sasuke came back, still being friends with Jugo, Karin and Suigetsu, but with a distance of some sorts. Now the four were best friends with no obstacles.

The foursome arrived at the commons, which was really just the main place students gathered together- the cafetaria. Homeroom teachers with the last names starting with similar letters as their students were at tables, giving schedules and classroom requirements.

Certain teachers had students with many different last names, ranging from Aki to Yama. Sai, Sasuke, Sakura and Naruto were conveniently placed in a class of following that quota. Having received the schedule from their teacher of two hours, Kakashi Hatake, they set off to room 206.

Surprisingly, they found the rest of the Konoha Twelve there, with sprinkled about. The Konoha Twelve was a special group, friends since grade school. They often branched out into their closer friends in the group, such as Ino Yamanaka with Shikamaru Nara and Choji Akimichi, Rock Lee with Tenten and Neji Hyūga and Kiba Inazuka and... Hinata Hyūga?

Naruto stared, utterly confused, at the girl. He thought she would be with the AP Honors homeroom classes instead of this lame general class.

"Hey, guys! Look here! The burning ember of youth prevailed and and the fate of destiny intertwined into our junior year once again! The Konoha Twelve has rejoined, all thanks to the springtime of youth!" Lee yelled with passion flaring in his eyes. Everyone winced at his hot-bloodedness. Sasuke merely sighed and sat down in one of the back seats.

"Eh, sit down Lee. Don't scare the other students." Neji said as he sat Lee down quickly. Tenten buried her face under her arms, questioning her friendship with Lee and sometimes, Neji as well.

Sakura gave a small laugh. Lee turned his head, hearts in his eyes and stood up again, making the chair screech loudly.

Sakura mentally cursed herself for drawing attention, specifically from Lee. He jogged up towards Sakura, and knelt on one knee. The entire class went silent and watched what was happening at the front of the class.

"My name is Rock Lee... Sakura-san, no?" He asked with fire in his eyes. Sakura sighed and facepalmed. 'Not this again,' everyone thought. Sasuke gave out a 'tch' noise of irritation.

"Yes," Sakura said, embarrassed because this had happened every year since the start of the sixth grade. Lee grinned.

"Let's go out together! I will protect you until I die!" He proclaimed, giving his signature 'good guy' pose he learned from Coach Guy. Sakura sighed.

"I'm sorry Lee, but once again, and this is the SIXTH time, no. I see you as a friend. Not as person I would be romantically involved with." Sakura politely responded.

Lee hung his head down, slumping his way back to his seat, and had Tenten and Neji silently pat him on the back.

Sakura, Sai and Naruto followed to where Sasuke was and sat in a row, with Sasuke on the right end, Naruto on the left, and Sakura and Sai taking the middle. The class resumed its quiet chatter, but the image of Lee and Sakura was imprinted on their minds.

A few moments later, four more people walked in, one being Mr. Hatake. The others were two boys and one girl, presumably their new classmates. The class quieted a tad and looked at the new faces.

"Hey, guys listen up. We have new transfer students from Suna High who came in a bit late. Please remain silent as they introduce themselves." Mr. Hatake nodded and the one girl spoke up.

"Good morning everyone. My name is Temari no Sabuku. These here are my brothers, who can introduce themselves. Before anyone asks, yes we are triplets, even if we look quite a bit different." Temari gave a small smile. The class laughed at her little jokes and she sat down near Neji, Lee and Tenten.

Next up was the boy with brown hair. He looked easy going as he spoke. "Hello guys! I'm Kankuro no Sabauku. It's nice coming over to Konoha Academy!" The boy bowed. the class echoed his his hellos and bowed down as well. He walked over to where Temari was and sat down next to him.

Finally the boy with the red hair looked at the class sullenly. Naruto took a glance at Sasuke, who suddenly was very interested in the last one. Naruto looked back at the front of the class.

"Hey. Name's Gaara no Sabuku." With that, he sat down next to his siblings. The class stared at him. Temari and Kankuro seemed nice enough... but Gaara radiated this scary feeling.

"Uh, alright! Now, I'll be taking attendence. Please say hello and state what your favorite thing to do when I call out your name." Mr. Hatake called out.

With that, the new school year rolled off to a good start.

All the while, Naruto kept taking looks at Hinata, who was speaking to Kiba and Ino. Something about her was making him feel weird inside and he couldn't pinpoint what.

'Whats going on?' Naruto wondered as he turned his attention back to Mr. Hatake.
