"How do you know all this?" I asked Denny as he finally let me up.

"Because, after I heard about Nicholas the first time, I needed to be sure you were safe." Denny explained. "I didn't want you to be another of his victims."

I shifted from one foot to the other, flicking my fringe back. It was nearly long enough to tick behind my ears.

"So I thought that if I get the name of who rents here, I could go from there, but your name doesn't come up."

I shook my head. "Lloyd's name does."

"Exactly. So after a few dead ends, I got someone to hack your bosses computer."

"That was you?"

Denny smirked. "It didn't work. His protection is too good or the hacker wasn't good enough. But we tried again the other day and got through."

I blinked. So he did it a couple times. Yet, I don't feel too surprised over it.

"But nothing came up there either for you. Just naming you as Harvey Fox." Denny grinned. "With your emergency contact."

"So you went from there?"

Denny eyes widened. "What a whole different world that opened up. The police had been watching your mother for years. You even. When they ruled you out, that's when the government granted you to leave."

I tilted my head. I didn't know that. I just thought this whole time it was luck.

"Your mothers info led me back to you. You are her only child and your location is unknown. Your mother never did a missing person's report."

"Because that means she will have to involve the police."

"Yes. Your father left while you were young and is now residing in his home country."

My eyes lit up. "My father?" I asked him slowly. "You found information on my father?"

Denny chuckled. "I decided to only know his name and the country he is in. I didn't want to go too far in to it. He wasn't involved in what I needed to know."

Denny sounded so distant as he spoke. Formal, businesslike.

"That's how I found out about your mother."

"Why didn't you tell me?" I whispered.

"There was really nothing to tell."

I could have argued with him. But Denny did say that I had nothing to worry about. So in a way, he was telling the truth the whole time.

I sat on the edge off the bed, processing. "Huh." I let out.

I stayed like that for several minutes before Denny got up. "I'll let you be. Keep that gun near you, just in case. Don't go running off doing something stupid, I have it under control."

My brain is having some difficulty processing it. It's been nearly twenty four hours and I'm still trying to tell myself that I have nothing to fear.

I let the loud music thump out my thoughts as I sung along to it, mumbling at the words.

My phone lit up, a notification, for a message. Dean.

He was asking how I am and I replied fine. Having a quiet night.

But in fact, I changed my mind the minute I sent that, wanting to go out. I actually felt like drinking.

I changed my jeans and slipped on some boots and took my bra off, sliding on a small and tight silk shirt.

I pulled my hair up, letting the shorter bits fall as I tied that back.
