"Okay, what's up your sleeve?" I asked as Denny led me to the car.
"Nothing." He said innocently as I buckled myself in.
I found I had enjoyed myself over dinner at Denny's two nights ago and with my permission, he requested me for a whole day today.
Casual, he wanted. Well, casual he has. So when Denny turned up to pick me up at the manor, I was waiting with jeans and flats, a singlet under my light jumper.
We were in a convertible, god knows how many he owns because this one was different again. It was a bright yellow and quite frankly, an eyesore and I told Denny that.
"An eyesore?" He laughed as he got in. "Watch this eyesore move! You might want to put your hair up, unless you want it flicking everywhere."
I dug in my bag for a little hairband and did that as we took off.
"So what's the occasion? Casual wear with a function?" I asked him.
"Yeah, you don't get many options to pick from." Denny frowned as we turned a corner. "But, no function."
I wasn't surprised.
"Then what?" I asked him.
"How was your day yesterday?" Denny sprung on me.
"Uh," I blinked several times, trying to think. "Quiet."
"What did you do?"
I gave him a weird look. "Negotiated my bills, did some shopping, paid of my monthly fees for my credit card. Cooked up a curry. Why?"
"Mine was hectic. Someone lost a contract that was desperately needed. I have a business that's merging in. My personal assistant told me she was quitting. I had back to back meetings that can and some did turn a bit aggressive."
"So you had a stressful day?"
"Don't you get stressed some days? Working or not?"
I agreed with him that he isn't the only one. "Yes, that's when I storm of to the bottle shop, pick up a small flask and have music blaring with an over full and steaming hot bath." I answered.
"So you do drink?"
"Nine out of ten times, I just stare at it and decide whether it is worth it the next morning." I laughed. "So you had a stressful day yesterday. What did you have in mind to release that tension?"
Denny quickly looked at me before putting his eyes on to the road, merging to another lane. "That bath sounds great, but a bit too feminine for me." He chuckled. "So I thought we would go somewhere, have some fun."
"Fun?" I emphasised the f on my lips. We were on a highway and Denny was dodging cars everywhere, over taking them and speeding. "What sort of fun?" I asked suspiciously.
Denny just kept grinning as he changed gears and slowed down, taking an exit. "Just a bit of this and that." Denny mumbled after a while as we stopped at some lights.
I looked around me through the windows, but I couldn't make out where we were. I went to ask but Denny cut me off.
"Don't bother asking where we are, you'll see it in a minute."
The light turned green and I closed my jaw, curiously looking out the windshield.
Then I saw it and my heart went dead.
The tall and twisting structures, ladder like, so high. Denny pulled in to the car park and turned the car off, but made no attempt to move as I stared at the place.
