After a few more nights of socialising, I stretched out on to my bed.
Nearly every night has been busy and I rolled over to check the time. 9:46am. I saw the notification on my phone and opened the app that holds my jobs.
A message from Dean. I've been requested again. I don't know who from, but it's not my regulars as they have access to request me.
Who the hell is determined to have me? I replied back to Dean denying it.
I got up and took out some water, pouring myself a glass before I started making my breakfast.
I always like to have a large breakfast then a small late lunch, since most nights that I am out, it's small finger foods.
"Sorry, but no." I said to myself, reassuring myself on the denial I sent Dean. I don't even know who it is.
****
It's been a week. A whole week without a request. I don't understand why. As far as I know, none of my clients have died. I understand if they have genuinely found someone they like, but all of them?
"I don't know what to tell you, honey." Dean said as I sat across from him, my feet on his desk.
"How can all my clients be gone?" I snapped. "I've done nothing wrong." I gently scratched my arm as I waited for Dean to continue.
"They just haven't requested you. What more can I say?"
"Well, they all didn't drop dead or got up and married."
"What about Adam Gilbert?"
I snorted. "Please. He likes his dates dumb. I hate that role. That's why Crystal is good for the job."
Dean gave me a disapproving look. "Be nice to Crystal. She's a doll." Dean got up and fixed his shirt. "I have a new girl starting soon and I need to show her around."
"A new girl?" I asked, intrigued.
"Yeah. Oh, have you seen Raquel lately? I sent her on a job the other night and she never checked back in."
I frowned. Raquel? "No. That's not like her." We can't bill our clientele if we don't check back in.
"I'm concerned. I've been trying to get a hold of her. I'll head over to her place after giving the new one a tour."
I just nodded as Dean walked out. I stayed in my position as I kept frowning. That was out of character completely for Raquel.
Then I noticed I was alone in Dean's office. No one in and out disturbing us. I quickly got up and moved to his computer, clicking away, finding my clients.
Kurtis Dwyer has now gone to Leesha. Harper Rothman is also with Leesha. I kept reading as all my clients were assigned elsewhere. What the fuck?
I clicked on my profile and read it, my eyes scanning the screen. I have no clients! How did this happen? How did I lose them? I do exactly as I'm told and when to do it, within reason.
I stepped away from the screen. Crystal had taken another of my clients as well. I haven't seen her recently, but I haven't been here either.
Shaking my head, I leave Dean's office, heading to the front.
"Oi, Harvey." I heard someone call out. I turned to see Maggie storming at me. "What the hell have you done?"
"Excuse me?" I barked back. "I haven't done anything."
"Huh? Really? Then how come I've lost Denny Mason? Dean just told me he has been asked to be reassigned. You were the last one he went out with!" Maggie pointed her finger at me.
