"I MISSED YOU TOO DAYS!"
"But really Arielle? Lord of the Rings? He's 11."
"He's smart, and better now than later. But you should definitely watch that teenage daughter of yours." Arielle backed out of the hug and looked Daysi straight in the eye. "She's a lot like you were back then, but minus the nerd and add the pep."
Daysi cringed. "I'm not sure if that's a compliment, but thank you?"
Arielle lightly tapped Daysi's cheek and giggled. "You are very welcome."
"Where are Will and Logan?"
Daysi smiled at Chad as he decided to join the conversation. "They've been out for a while. Logan's teaching William how to drive. They should be ba-"
Just then the door flew open, scaring Arielle who instinctively grabbed Chad's hand. "Goddammit. I hate feeling scared." As soon as Daysi noticed, Arielle had let go.
"Dad, I'd love to play football professionally, but i actually like learning so-UNCLE CHAD." Will ran to tackle Chad and ended up with a hand to his forehead holding him back.
"Still 6 inches too short for that." Logan laughed and he and Chad did some handshake thing that lasted a good 3 minutes.
Arielle crossed her hands and mumbled to herself mostly, but a little to Daysi as well. "Wow, I'm feeling the love. You think after remembering EVERY one of his birthdays I'd at least-"
Daysi waved her hand in Arielle's face and spoke over her mumbles. "Arielle. You remember EVERYONE'S birthdays."
As they continued their small babble, Will ran to a coat closet underneath the stair case, brought out a fresh looking football, and threw it towards his Dad and Uncle. "Football time?"
Logan and Chad nodded, agreeing in unison. "Football time."
As they ran out the back door, Will gave Arielle and Daysi hugs. "Sorry 'bout a while ago, Mom, and good to see you Auntie Mermaid." He chuckled as Arielle struggled to ruffle his hair, and the two ladies began yelling out precautions.
"Be careful!"-Daysi
"Chad, don't hurt Logan!"-Arielle
"Will, don't fall into the pool again!"-Daysi
"Play in the grass!"-Arielle
"Wear padding!"-Daysi
Arielle laughed at Daysi's last comment. "Wow Days. You know that definitely won't happen, and did that child seriously bring up the Little Mermaid? I'm gonna make him watch it with me now. All. Three. Movies."
Daysi shrugged and brought Arielle to sit in the living room. "So? You said you had something to tell me?" Daysi loved hearing new things, especially if she was the first to hear them. Arielle pulled off a silver chain from inside her shirt, and placed it in her palm. The chain was simple and long, only decorated with a silver diamond set ring.
Daysi looked from the ring to Arielle, to the ring, and back to Arielle again meeting her eyes which glistened, threatening tears. "No."
Arielle simply nodded, bringing her gaze back to the ring, holding it like a freshly picked flower with thorns.
"OH MY GOD WHEN."
