An Old, Rekindled Love

Side Story: House Party ~

        As soon as Arielle unlocked the door, she made her way into the kitchen to grab drinks and snacks. Chad was left to close and look the door while holding their dinner leftovers. They'd gone to Arielle's favorite restaurant, Olive Garden.

        "CHAAAAAD. COME HERE. TAKE YOUR SHOES OFF FIRST THOUGH PLEASE." This wasn't the first time Chad had been inside of Arielle's house, but this was the first time since they were officially together that Arielle invited him into her home. After Arielle's drunken incident, Chad already knew where everything was.

        When he walked into the kitchen Arielle had already filled up half of the granite island with all of her favorite snacks including two full boxes of caprisun. "Take these to the basement. It's the door by the-"

        "I know." Chad cut off Arielle leaving her nostalgic. He grabbed basically everything, and heaved it downstairs. Arielle trailed behind him with glasses and a bottle of wine. Once downstairs, Arielle motioned Chad to place everything on the floor in front of the TV while she popped in Friends with Benefits. "You really love that movie."

        "HA. It's about a girl who is emotionally damaged and a guy who is emotionally unavailable who fall in love. This movie is my life."

        Oh yea.... Chad thought, realizing it was true. Arielle constantly called herself emotionally damaged, and Chad only ever talked about his feelings when Arielle pushed it. Like really pushed it. So basically, you could say he was emotionally unavailable. Weren't most guys though?

        After turning off the lights, Arielle plopped happily onto the couch next to Chad, giddy for the movie. Every time they watched it together, she laughed at new things and repeated more of the lines than the last time. He put his arm around her, and she smiled and snuggled up next to him. She loved to cuddle, but usually only did when she was comfortable. Knowing that, Chad smiled, and wrapped his other arm her. Just before the movie started, he kissed the side of her neck and whispered, "I love you." Arielle blushed, and shrank into her seat before she responded, "I know."

        Arielle started drinking straight from the bottle in the middle of the movie when Mila left LA to go back to New York. Then when Chad confiscated her wine, she began pouring the caprisun into the wine glasses. She handed Chad his glass, clinking hers to his, and then chugging it down. "I have always wanted to do that." Arielle said, smiling in satisfaction. Chad did the same and laughed.

        At the end of the movie when Justin Timberlake kissed Mila Kunis in Grand Central, Arielle snuck in a kiss of her own, catching Chad by surprise. Chad knew she wasn't drunk. He knew what that was like, but her lips were still warm from the wine. She sort of melted into him as he mimicked her soft kisses, her eyes closed and his opening every so often to glace at Arielle's expression. They were still on the couch, but now Arielle straddled Chad's lap. When the credits began to roll, they started to run out of breath, so Chad playfully bit Arielle's lip.

        Even though she tried to fight it, a smile spread across her face. "I love you."

        Chad smirked and kissed her on the nose. "I know."

        His response caused Arielle to burst into laughter and clutch her stomach. When her laughter subsided, She sat up and wiped the tears from her eyes. "How.......unoriginal of you." Chad sat staring at Arielle and realized that her way of sitting was very unlady-like considering she was still in the dress she had worn to dinner. Arielle noticed him staring and pinched his cheeks. It was something she did when she wanted to touch him, but didn't want to seem needy. "Why are you staring?"

"Well while I'm being "unoriginal"." Chad pulled her hands away from his face by her wrists and placed a gray box in her hands after pulling out of his pant's pocket.

Arielle looked at the box, then up at Chad's grin. "What....is this?"

"Open in." Arielle slowly opened the box and stared in awe and silence at the beautiful diamond studded ring. "And i know you hate wearing rings so....." Chad pulled the ring out of the box, and from the ring flowed a chain.

"I....."

"Wait. Shh." Chad shushed Arielle and got off the couch to bend on one knee. "Will you-"

"Stop." Arielle interrupted Chad by placing a finger to his lips. She moved to sit on the floor facing him so he was taller than her as usual. "I don't need you to kneel."

Chad was puzzled at Arielle's comment. "But aren't I supposed to? You are ruining the unoriginality of this."

"Just shut up and continue your sentence."

"Isn't that a contradiction?"

"Did you understand what i said?"

"Yes."

"Then don't be a dick about it." Chad chuckled when he realized Arielle quoted Friends with Benefits. Arielle smiled. Wow, I didn't think he'd get it. Arielle waved her hand in the "keep going" gesture.

Chad got off of one knee, and sat normally. "I can't believe I'm saying this, but will you marry me?"

Arielle took the necklace from Chad, placing it around her neck. "Fuck no. Say it properly."

Chad groaned and began to rub his forehead. "You're such a pain in the ass. Will you be my wife? Is that better?!"

Arielle leaned forward and wrapped her arms around his neck. He could smell her jasmine perfume as she looked him straight in the eyes and said, "Hell yeah. What made you decide to do this today? You didn't know i would invite you over. Oh my god, were you planning something else, but-" And then Chad kissed her for two reasons. One because he wanted to. Two so she would shut up.
