When Lives Intertwine

After the day at Red Lobster, neither Logan or Daysi had heard much from Arielle or Chad, so the two caught up on each other's new lives and discussed the day they re-met. It was Sunday, Logan's day off, and Daysi wasn't as busy as usual.

"So where do you work?" Daysi was always the first to start conversation. She didn't mind much because she never ran out of questions. She was standing at the register. Logan was sitting just across the counter slouching on a stool.

"In an office building near the bookstore. It's just a normal job with phone calls, paperwork, stuck-up bosses......How's the bookstore doing business wise?" Daysi met Logan's eyes and knew he asked her the question unwillingly, but out of politeness.

"I know you don't like books. You never have, but I still love them greatly. The store is doing well. Many regulars come in and always ask for recommendations. I'm lucky to work around what I love. I'm surprised it's slow today....." Daysi never ceased to not smile when talking about her store, or books in general. Logan always sat there dumbfounded because he was never inclined in the latest novel.

The only reason he cared to listen to her babble was because books were something she loved. They were practically apart of her being. Every time she finished a new book, he'd get multiple texts from her about her "fangirling". When they were younger, Logan would always say, "Books are stupid." Daysi would get very upset with him. Now he just laughs and she pouts saying, "You never understand."

This time wasn't different from any other time except as she talked and talked he didn't once interrupt. He just watched as her eyes sparkled and how she made slight movements with her hands. Nothing too extravagant. She spoke of stories as if she was living them. Every character's name rolled off her tongue like the memory of an old friend. Every new setting was mentioned in a tone of familiarity as if she was speaking of her bedroom floor plan, and after every unnerving plot twist, Daysi seemed endlessly frustrated.

"Hello?" Daysi had apparently stopped talking and was waiting for Logan's response.

Not hearing a word of their conversation, he just chuckled. "You haven't changed."

Daysi blushed, and straightened her back to show confidence. "And what's that-" Logan chuckled again and smiled at her. He leaned over the counter to kiss her. Seeing it coming, Daysi cut off her sentence and began to blush, but she burst into laughter as Logan stumbled off the stool and hit the counter. Daysi giggled as he regained balance, and noticed the rosiness in his cheeks. She pulled him up by the collar and kissed him sneakily. "Neither have you."

Sometime during the next few months, the two went to Red Lobster. They were quite fond of the restaurant now, and ate there every so often.

Logan scratched his head and looked embarrassed. "I wasn't drunk that night, I swear! I worked overtime and I live an hour away by train. It's a small apartment that I only use to sleep in really."

Daysi sipped her wine and began to play with her dessert. She's been waiting to talk to Logan about his living arrangements for a while. He worked overtime often, and never seemed to get enough sleep.

"Well, if you want.......you could...um....move in with me." Daysi and Logan looked up at each other simultaneously. They locked eyes, and Logan smiled. Both their cheeks were a rosy pink.

"R-r-really? Would that be okay? I don't want to bother or anything....." His words were unsure, but his face beamed with radiance.
