Love cafe

I'm packing up my bags, since the last semester for my sophomore year has gradually come to an end.

"I'm going to my Aunty's place in Newport. Phoebe where are you spending your break?" I asked her as I zipped up my bag and took a look at Phoebe who was doing her makeup in front of the dressing mirror.

"I'm going to Jason's place for at least two weeks then the remaining weeks, I'll go to my parents,"said Phoebe.

"Ok, that's cool-I'm gonna miss you a lot," I said as I hugged her, she hugged me back.

"Now ,Ivy don't make me cry,you know I just got my makeup done and I can't bring myself to smear it.We'll keep in touch every bit of the way,"said Phoebe and I nodded, we were in that position until I heard my phone ring.I took it out of my pocket and saw it was a call from Aunt Stacy.

"Hi Aunt," I said as I pressed the receiver,

"Hey Ivy.....I've sent a cab to pick you up from your school, hope you're set?"

"Yes, yes. I'm about leaving the hostel".

"Okay,can't wait to see you sweetie," she said as I hung up.

"Pheobe, got to go.I'll call you later,"I said as I took my bags.

"Bye Ivy, later", she said as I hugged her and went downstairs.

As I stood there, a man approached me.
"You must be Ivy Danes. I'm Richard, your designated driver. Your aunt sent me here," he said with a courteous smile on his face

"OK, that's cool...lemme put my stuff in the car and we'll be on our way" I said as he grabbed my stuff from where I had dropped them

"Don't worry ma'am," he said as he set them in the car, I walked over to the back seat as I shrugged it off, 'besides that's what he's been paid for ' I sat down and closed the door and we were off .

I stared out the window, I hated travelling alone, not because I get car sick but I easily get bored so whenever I travel or go on a road trip , I prefer to go with someone who I know won't bore me, the silence was unbearable, soon I heard the driver start a conversation,

"So Ivy," he paused looking for a suitable question to ask ,"is this your first time being in Newport? "

I'm no master with small talk it bores the hell outta me,

"No, not really... It's just being five years "

He nods and keeps whistling, I get my headphones out and start playing I don't care by Justin bieber ft Ed sheeran, that way I won't get to hear what else this driver had to say and from the looks of it , seems this was going to be a long trip.

I woke up and saw we were packed in front of my aunt's house, I was the only one in the car though, the driver was talking to my aunt by her door step.

I went to hug my aunt, she hugged me tighter than I thought she would, she hadn't changed that much.

She was still the average woman, with black wavy hair that always had a glistening look, her skin didn't have a single blemish, her small waist and hips were still the same, she didn't look like she'd aged a bit.

"Ivy dear, I've missed you, you've really had a growth spurt from the last time I saw you...you're no longer skinny, I thought you'd be like your dad's family, skinny and no curves but it turns out you took after the Hamilton's " she said analyzing my body, I blushed a little shade of red,

"Aunt, the driver's still here...please don't embarrass me" I said looking down with my flushed cheeks

"Nonsense... Richie, doesn't she look dazzling?" She asked Richard who gave a small smirk

"She's a real beauty, ma'am" he said as my aunt smiled at me

"I'll go get my bags" I said as I was tired of my aunt's teasing,

"Don't worry dear, Richie here has taken them in" she said stopping me from going to the car,

"Richie, here's your bill," she said handing over some money to him, " I'll call you if we need you" she added as Richie retreated to the car.

"Good day ma'am, bye Ivy" he said as he stepped into his car and drove off

"Such a nice gentleman, right Ivy?" she said as we entered the house.

I was amazed by the size of the house, from the exterior you wouldn't guess the house was this big, the decor was beautiful and the house held this homey feel.

"Follow me dear, I'd show you your room" she said as I nodded and followed her.

She opened a door and I looked at my new room, it was big, had a Queen size bed and was painted grey

"Hope you like it?" She asked as she searched my face for the answer

"I love it !" I exclaimed as I hugged her

"Good thing you love it...get settled in dear, dinner would be served at 8," she said as she left the room.

I laid down on my bed and pulled out my phone and took a selfie that I'd send to Phoebe, I logged in to WhatsApp and then I saw what almost 99% of teens feared the most.

NO SERVICE!!!!!!???!!!!!!

I screamed

My aunt rushed to the room
"What happened dear" she asked panicking

"Aunt" I said " what happened dear, you can talk to me" she added

"No service, No WiFi"

My aunt's face dissolved into confusion then I saw a glint of happiness, she threw her head back and started laughing.

"Is that why you screamed?.... Oh dear, you'll have to check the cafe, we have an issue here with our service provider " she said in between laughs.

I furrowed my brows, I'm really gonna suffer, how could a modern girl live without WiFi.

"After dinner, I'll give you the details and description to the cafe, you could use a little break from social media, you'll appreciate everything offline soon" she said as she winked and left me stranded in misery.

'This is going to be a loooooooonnnnnnnggggggg break' I said as I face palmed.

That was chapter 1 sorry wasn't great but you got to see a side about Ivy, you met her aunt and best friend, it will get better sooner .
