Magnus searched every single person in that apartment, Max's party officially interrupted. Even the group that had been under the mystery spell. Andy tried not to let it get to her when she felt his magic dance across her skin as he tried to find the book. He had plenty of valid reasons not to trust her, but she had absolutely no use for a book of spells.

After the last Nephilim had been searched and sent on their way home, Magnus huffed. Maryse had gone home with Max and left the rest of her kids to get into trouble on their own, the four milling around the warlock's decorated living room in boredom. Clary was leaning against a wall with Simon next to her, both watching Magnus curiously.

"It appears I'm the only warlock here," Magnus stated with a sigh, waving his arms. The golden shimmer of the wards could be seen falling through the windows.

He turned to the shadowhunters that were left, eyes darting around like he was still searching. "What happens if we don't find your spell book?" Clary spoke up, playing with the bracelet on her wrist absent-mindedly.

"That's not an option we're going to explore." Magnus insisted, beginning to pace. "That book can undo every spell I've ever cast, from the elementary to the complex. New and old languages."

"Seems like kind of a dumb thing to leave lying around," Andy spoke up, earning a glare from the warlock.

"It was locked up," he assured. "Whoever took it must have..." he trailed off, like an idea was coming to him. "Champenois," he exclaimed, earning confusion all around. "It's an old french dialect."

He muttered something in french before throwing up the wards for the second time that night, storming off into his apartment.

"Magnus," Alec said impatiently, following him into his bedroom. He must have understood what Magnus said as he asked, "What cat?"

Magnus didn't answer, looking around the room intensely. Andy hung back by the doorway as everyone else entered, convinced this was a lost cause. How was Magnus' collection of strays going to help them find an old book?

Her question was answered quickly as the warlock walked over to his bed. He analyzed it for a moment before Jace pulled back the comforter. Sure enough, there was an orange tabby cat laying underneath that jumped up instantly. It ran off towards the door.

Magnus threw a ball of magic at it, catching them all off guard. Especially Andy, who was in the doorway that he aimed for. When it hit the cat, it transformed it into a woman. A woman that Andy knew too well, even from the back.

"Son of a bitch," she seethed before being frozen in place by the other warlock's spell. The same warlock that she was trying to hunt down and kill. The same warlock that had trapped Clary in a room with a demon.

When they were released from her spell, the group shared a few concerned looks before running out into the rest of the apartment to see what had happened, Andy at the head. She slowed to a stop when she found Magnus beside a destroyed bookshelf. He was using his magic to keep the other warlock in place. Judging by the woman's grunts, it wasn't exactly comfortable.

Andy couldn't help but smirk. This crazy woman thought she could take on Magnus Bane, and boy did she get a rude awakening. "This is the warlock I told you about," she told Magnus, but he ignored her, a little too focused on using his powers.

The woman panted, obviously struggling under the restraints. "Clary Fairchild," she hissed, her eyes glued to the redhead. "You made a blood oath." She choked out. "Find Madzie."

Magnus was having no more of her talk, soon making her disappear into thin air and then closing the portal he used to do it. "She's the Clave's problem now." He muttered.
