"Uh, is there something wrong?" Said Aki. "No! N-Nothing is wrong!" I was red like a tomato. "Yeah so let's meet at the table for lunch, I want us to be friends." She gave me the sweetest smile and left to the locker room to change. I was speechless. Am I dreaming? A super cute girl flirting with me? Let alone talking to me? I dropped to the ground crying. "Yes!!! I did it!! I'm finally a man!!!" I was sooo happy to know that my grandpa is going to be wrong. He told me roughly two years ago that I'd never find love. I believed him at some point but today is where I proved him wrong. I shot a fist up in the air. "Screw you grandpa!!"
"Nazuni!" The teacher was calling my name from the window. "Nazuni! Get to class now! You almost missed a whole period!" "Yes sir!" I replied back. I slowly jogged inside the building and up the stairs. I really don't want to go to class. I have so much built up emotions, I just feel like climbing to the peak of a mountain and scream my lungs out. "I'm back Mr. Torres." "You're barely back Nazuni! We only have five minutes of class left. You can copy notes off of someone. Okay?" "Yeah." "So did you reel in the fish?" Said Matsuo. "What do you mean reel in the fish?" "Like, did you guys hook up? Did you guys get together? A relationship?" "Possibly a friendship. But I'm not sure about a relationship." "Atta boy! That's the Nazuni I know!"
I wonder what he means by "That's the Nazuni I know." I don't understand because we've only known each other for roughly a month and a half. And I've been distracted this whole time. I didn't get the notes I was supposed to get. Class is about to end. Our next class is cooking class. Ring! The bell rang for us to get to our next class. I shoved and pushed my way to Nuage in the hallway filled to the brim with students. "Hey Nuage! Can you text me a picture of the notes later on?" "Sure." We were both casually walking down the hall to our classroom when we saw Daylin with another fellow student. "Are you still hanging around with that Nazuni guy?" Asked the student. Daylin stood still as if he was thinking hard about something. "Yeah I hangout with him." The student looked him right in the eye. "Why? He's a loser, don't waste your time with him and Mr. No smiles!" Nuage looked down and sighed. "I'm Mr. No Smiles huh?" We were listening to their conversation from corner of the building. They were on the other side of the corner and haven't noticed us here yet. "I don't know why I hangout with him, I know he's a loser and an idiot sometimes and he never gets crap done." I've had it. I clenched my fist and walked towards Daylin but Nuage pulled me back. "Don't do it. That's not a good idea. We'll confront him when he's alone." I had so much built up frustration I wanted to punch Daylin in the face and make him apologize, but I knew I couldn't do that. He's my friends... And there's the fact that he's stronger than me and could possibly beat me up in return.
Nuage let go of my hand. "Let's get to class." He said calmly. Oh boy, cooking class is a pain. I'm normally good at academic subjects like Math and English class, but cooking isn't my specialty. And then there's our teacher, Mrs. Ishika. She's a freaking maniac! One mess up and she's up in your face basically telling you how bad you are. Me and Nuage entered the class, and there was Mrs. Ishika. She was waiting at the entrance, fist bumping anyone who walks in. She eventually got to us and fist bumped me and Nuage. Wow. This is a first. She's usually not this welcoming or friendly. "Hey class!" Yelled Mrs. Ishika very energetically. "How's your Monday going so far?!" She asked to the whole class. One kid raised his hand. "My dog ran away yesterday." Mrs. Ishika was stumped. I bet in her mind she's all like "How do I respond to that?" I wouldn't blame her because the guy looks like he's going to cry at any moment. "W-Well... I'm sorry for your loss. Anyone else want to share?" A girl raised her hand. "My parents are getting divorced and I might have to move because of that." Two other girls raised their voices. "What! I'm going to miss you Yuka!" They said. Mrs. Ishika was speechless. "This class is so depressing." She thought. Mrs. Ishika got back her composure and continued.
"Anyways, we are making brownies today in class. Find a partner to bake with. If you can make it correctly, you can eat it!" Me and Nuage instinctively looked at each other. Looking right a Nuage, I noticed how droopy his eyes were. It looked like he hadn't slept in years. Nuage walked up to me. "Let's get started." I'm scared of those words. As soon as we start I always mess something up. "You start first." I suggested. He looked back at me. "We are making brownies, how can you possibly mess up something so simply. You just put milk, eggs, the brownie mix, put it in the oven, and you're done." He's right, it's brownies we're talking about.
