I somehow expected her to confess her love, but deep down I feel the same. We’ve been really good friends for quite some time, she’d honestly be my best friend if it wasn’t for Daylin and Nuage, but after all the time I’ve came to cherish every moment I had with Ayano. “I love you too.” I said to her, looking her right in her eyes, in her soul. In that instant, Ayano dove in and gave a big hug, her long silky dark brown hair hitting my neck and cheeks. “Thanks, Nazuni.” She said softly. “Thanks for what?” “Thanks for loving me, not very many people do that.” “It’s okay, I’ll always be by your side from now on. I’m sorry I kind of pushed you away this year.” “You don’t need to apologize, it’s my fault for being how I am. Would it be better if I were more adult like?” “No, you’re great just as you are.” We stood there hugging for a while in the middle of a crowd of bustling teenagers. Tears started rolling down Ayano’s cheeks and onto my t-shirt. “Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!” cried out Ayano. I patted her back as sort of a way to comfort her. “By the way, did you come just to confess to me, or did you have anything else you wanted to say? “It doesn’t matter anymore.” She said. “But what about Aki? Didn’t you two have a thing?” continued Ayano. “Yeah I know, it’s going to get complicated, but our relationship seemed kinda forced, I barely met her a couple days ago but she insists we start dating immediately.” “Oh ok.” said Ayano. “I hope she’s fine with the changes.” “Hopefully.” “Okay see you tomorrow! I got to go home and run errands!” I said as I gradually began letting go of her small and soft hands. “Bye!” She waved back. Ayano began to walk away the opposite direction of me with a huge smile on her face.
Alright! Time to prioritize the investigation! Now out of the crowd, I exited the school campus and took the backroads back to my house. The backroads was filled with a bunch of farms and ranches, it was basically the countryside part of the town. I walked down the dirt road, gently humming the tune of “Old Macdonald Had a Farm” while kicking around dirt for fun. As I get closer to farms in the area, the smell of manure grew stronger and stronger until I got close enough to hear the moos of the cows casting the horrible smells. Most of them grazed peacefully through the green grass in the pasture, while some sat down and took advantage of the blue and sunny sky to get warm and comfortable. They were all so chubby and cute! I was tempted to jump the fence and pet one of the cows, but was afraid that some old guy with a shotgun would show up and start firing at me. Yes, there are people like that who own farms. I happily strolled through the back road, gazing right at the sky above me. “It’s crazy how clear the sky is today!” I said to myself. “It was really cloudy and rainy just a couple days ago.” It’s crazy how this world changes. It’s dark one day, but the brightest it can be then next day. But from what I’ve experienced these past couple of days, it’s that although your life may be dark and cloudy one day, there will be moments where the light will outway the dark.
I walked through the neighborhood for about ten minutes until I saw my house in sight. My house is in a very weird location since it’s squeezed in between two houses in the corner of a cul de sac. Those two houses casted a shadow over my house which virtually never disappeared in any type of weather. Although it was really clear and sunny, it was also very windy now compared to the morning when it was calm. The blowing wind thrashed my hair side to side as I pierced through the current, running towards my house. I quickly sprinted to house across the front lawn, forcefully grabbed the doorknob, and swung the door open with all my might. The door flung open and made a loud “Reeee!” noise. “Nazuni! I told you to stop doing that! You’re going to break the door!” My Mom yelled from the dining room. She was sitting down in a beige chair, writing something down in a notebook. I shrugged off her complaint like I usually do and headed to my room. I opened the door and was surprised to see Star in my room, laying in my bed. He was reading one of the magazines I owned about the study of the stars. “Oh hey Goldy! Took ya long enough.” “What are you doing here? What if my Mom sees you?” “Do not worry small human! For only I have control o’er who can or cannot see me!” said Star as if he were a public speaker in the medieval ages. “Small human? I have you know I’m the average size for a human my age.” “Oh I don’t think so.” Star pulled out yet another one of my magazines that has random facts in them. On the front of the magazine there was a big picture of a boy measuring his height with the word “Health” in big bold letters right under the picture. “It says right here that the average sixteen year old male is five feet and nine inches. If I’m correct, you are five feet and four inches.” How’d… How’d he know my height? “Anyways, I’ll be back, I have something planned tonight.” I said. “You’re not going back to that kids house again, right?” Star said in a concerned tone. “Well…” “If you’re going again, I’m going to have to come with you.” “Why!” “Well, it is very dangerous outside at night, remember when we first met? If it wasn’t for me, you’d be in that old dude’s dungeon or something.” I mean, he has a good point. He could keep watch for me while I go into the house and snoop around. “Okay fine then.” “Great!” He said joyfully. “We are going to have so much fun! Just me and you, the unstoppable duo!”
