PREVIOUSLY ON SWEETNESS OF THE STARS:
( I was nearly about to turn the knob when it suddenly turned on it’s own. “Good, they probably came back for me.” I saw the door open with a relieving smile. To my surprise, it was Daylin, with Matsuo behind him. Nice to see familiar faces around. I smiled and waved to them, inviting them into my humble abode. “Good morn…” Daylin socked me in the face with a nose breaking blow that sent me falling to the ground. “You dumbass!” )

I stayed there collapse on the ground as Daylin towered over me. My eyes started to water up and my nose began to tingle and sting when I touched it, and blood began to stream out of my nose and down my face. “I heard what you did you scumbag! You almost hit Ayano! You should never hit a lady!” Daylin yelled his voice out while Matsuo was just standing behind him, avoiding eye contact with me and was fiddling with the laces hanging out from his hoodie. After Daylin let out some steam, he grabbed Matsuo by the arm and threw him into the room with me. “Mat, you need to stop running from your problems. I know something’s up between you two, so you guys have to talk it out right now.” Daylin stood next to the door as a means of blocking it, then put in his earphones. “I’ll be waiting here until you guys are done speaking.”

Matsuo stood standing over me, not even looking at me. “So…” he said.” “About Ayano…” he continued to avert his eyes from me and his arms began to tremble. “How did you and Ayano get so close so fast?” Matsuo’s voice sounded scratchy and his legs began to shake as if he feared for an answer. “Don’t tell you guys-” “I’m sorry, we started dating.” I interrupted. “But it wasn’t me who asked her out, it was her who asked me out.” Matsuo nodded head in acceptance, then let out stress with a loud relieving sigh. “I was going to say ‘What the hell Nazuni!’ but I guess since it’s Ayano that chose to be with you, then I can’t fight that.”

He turned to me, finally fixing his eyes upon mine. His basic brown eyes glared into my monstrously abnormal purple eyes, aiming right down the iris. Some say that eyes are the gateways to the soul, and I totally believe that. Mat’s soul was brighter than ever, yet at the same time lacked life. Something was still troubling him. “To think you’d have the balls to accept her confession even though you knew your friend loved her.” I knew right away what was troubling him. It was Ayano. He deeply loved Ayano and wanted to be by her side, as a couple. But now that can’t happen. I saw Matsuo walk up to ask her out before. His arms were shaking, his legs seemed heavy, he was speechless, all these feelings that Ayano’s mere existence caused him to feel wasn’t just a plain crush. It was Mat’s genuine love for her. Damnit! I ruined it too! I feel so bad.

“Nazuni,” called Matsuo. “Yeah?” “Ayano loves you, not me, so don’t feel guilty. All I ask is for you to protect her.” Matsuo began to chuckle a bit, but tried to cover his mouth with his hands. “She’s such a kid so she’ll get into danger a lot more often than a normal person, so at least baby-proof everything for her, ‘kay?” he said jokingly.

I clenched my fist, the same one that attempted to strike Ayano, and looked  at it with disappointment. “But…I almost hit her. I’m the wrong person to ask to protect her.” Matsuo flipped back his shiny black hair, and shook his head side to side. “No, I saw what happened from far away, and it wasn’t you. You didn’t seem to be there mentally, the real you would never do such a thing. But I don’t know what could explain that white light.”

Daylin pulled out an earbud and began to loudly yawn. “You guys done yet?” Matsuo turned to me for confirmation, then approached Daylin. “Yeah, pretty much.” The two boys walked out the door expecting me to follow behind as well. I feel as if I were let off easy. I was expecting Daylin to beat me nearly half to death, which is what I think I deserve, but all he did was punch me. Sure it was a solid punch, but I didn’t feel like I was truly punished. I would have felt better if Daylin or even Matsuo yelled at me more, I swear I’m not a masochist though.
