If you would like, you can skip this chapter, although it is not recommended.

It just holds a bit more backstory, since I feel that I didn't give enough in the first chapter.

'My goodness, child. You really never get enough, do you?'

'Well, yes, I suppose it isn't in my place to blame you. After all, I was just as curious as you when I found out and started all of this talk.'

'What? Cut out the formal language? Fine, fine, fine. But I did wanna know about this stuff.'

'...What really happened at the tree?'

'Gosh, are you sure you want to know? Yeah? Ok, fine.'

'When your great great great great great grandmother went to the tree, she... didn't want to do good things like the people say. They only say she wanted to do good things because if I had told everyone everything, they might... never mind.'

'Anyways—and don't ever tell anyone about this—the explorer was never a very good person like you all thought. She was bad. Very, very bad. Always cursing or doing something violent. She only cared about a few people in her family and herself.'

'Come now, don't look so scared. She left soon after a particular spike of violence. She was actually banished. Good riddance, if you ask me.'

'But oh boy, was that a mistake.'

'Because she swore she would return. She cursed you all and said she would bring down a barrage of death and anger that nobody would survive.'

'Of course, that was the last anyone ever heard of her, haha.'

'But me? I was too curious to be stopped from following the rogue traveler. I stalked her—no, not like that! Stop laughing! That wasn't what I meant and you know it!!'

'Anyways. I watched her go up to that tree, notebook and pen in hand. She went up to the guardian—a beautiful flower, and as nice as she looked—and threatened her. With a huge longsword too!'

'Yes, yes, it was terrifying indeed. But I stayed quiet. I could only watch as the poor guardian refused to give up those powerful golden fruits. Those fruits, both of them... they looked quite powerful. Enticing, even.'

'After a few more quick words, all safe in my notebook, the traveler did something unbelievable. She pierced the guardian right through. Almost severed her, in fact. It was wonderfully—uhm. Terribly bloody. Oh, you would have hated it.'

'But even at the point of death the guardian didn't give up. She fought back! Tore that little undeserving swine apart! It was lovely!'

'What? Don't give me that face. Oh alright, alright. You and many others wouldn't have liked it at all.'

'Soon after, the dying guardian created two little lively spirits. You won't forget something like that in quite a while. Then she disappeared, fused with the tree.'

'...How Do I know all of this?'

'...'

'Go back to sleep, Aubrey.'

'I won't tell you anymore.'

'This is the last time.'

'Goodbye. I have fates to write. People to trick. Eyes to deceive. Souls to kill.'

'...Have fun.'
