(100... years... later.)

Dream walked to the small tombstone.

The inscription read:

'The Spirit of Dreamtale'
Proud mother and first protector of the beloved tree of feelings. May she forever Rest In Peace.

Tears rolled down the guardian's face. The tree trunk was now covered in flowers, mostly yellow daises and rare violet daffodils.

As a matter of fact, violet daffodils didn't exist.

He had asked a close friend to make them for him.

Dream felt the hand of that friend on his shoulder.

"...Dream," Ink whispered softly, "We have to go now. There's an attack on Recoverytale. We need the whole team."

Dream didn't move. He knew the people needed him. He knew that his brother was most likely leading the attack.

He knew a lot of things, including the fact that there were hundreds of thousands of happy people in that small universe that deserved saving.

Turning away, Dream gathered a deep breath. He summoned his bow, and put a hand on his cape.

The cape Nightmare had given to him all of those years ago.

It still gave him reassurance now.

Opening a portal, Ink stepped through to Underswap. Dream cast one last longing look at the tree before pulling out a notebook.

The notebook that Nightmare had written in hundreds of years ago. The book that held their story. Dream found it under the broken branches of their mother's tree, a little ripped but mostly alright.

"...Go on," Dream called after Ink, "I'll catch up."

The artist shrugged and nodded, closing the portal with a smile. He understood most of the time, when he was on his emotion vials, or EVs for short.

Opening the book, Dream smiled.

As long as he tried hard enough, his brother could be saved.

And he would save Nightmare, or die trying.

Opening another golden portal, Dream dropped his smile and pulled his cape close.

They had to save the world first, of course.

Stepping through onto the snow of Underswap's Snowdin, Dream focused on the little soul of joy in near Ink. His other friend.

As Dream opened the door, he was stepping into another chapter of his very, very long life.

What he didn't know was that this was starting a whole new story.

One that just so happened to include two little souls from two universes that were very, very alike.

The two souls that went by (Y/N) and (N/N).
