'...and slowly everything started to get filled with more and more people. A huge town was being built near the tree."

"I'm Aubrey."

Nightmare stared at the rabbit girl, and she stared right back. The voice had been right. There were people here. Other sentient beings. Here.
His head was beginning to ring with confusion, voices bouncing around. One stood out in particular: a line that he had never read to Dream from his notebook.

'All humans and monsters alike are repulsive beings.'

He had no memory of writing those words. It was cryptic and strange. He tried asking the voice, but each time the voice would grow silent.

Nightmare held the bases of his hands to the sides of his head, as if he was trying to keep his the voices in his skull from exploding out. Everything was so confusing. What did this mean for them? For him? For Dream?? Would their job become harder?

My child, calm down, please. You're going to be alright. It's not much change...

As Nightmare questioned everything, Dream seemed to be getting along with the newbie, Aubrey, just fine.

"Hi Aubrey! Nice to meet you! I'm Dream." The guardian stuck out his gold fingerless gloved hand to the small bunny child. Aubrey shyly reached up to shake his hand. Dream looked over Aubrey's small figure, intrigued by another being other than himself.

She was wearing a cute flowery green dress to contrast her pale yellow fur. Long bunny ears branched out of her dirty blonde hair, and they twitched slightly as the wind blew by.

Aubrey was looking at the tree that she had only heard of in legends. Oh man. Dad is never going to believe this. Just the sight of it all, the golden flag and fruits, the dark fruits, everything matched the mysterious cloaked stranger's description. She was so absorbed in the tree that she forgot she was shaking hands with Dream.

Dream looked down at their hands, still shaking. Or that what they were supposed to be doing. Now Aubrey was just holding his hand still in a gentle grip. he knew that he could easily pull out of the uncomfortable handshake, but he was way too polite for anything close to that. He was also a tad too innocent to call it 'hand holding.'

"Uhm," he whispered to the entranced girl, "Aubrey? Are you feeling alright?"

Hearing her name snapped Aubrey out of her trance. "Uhm..." Aubrey blushed slightly at her freeze-up. "S-Sorry about that." She fidgeted, looking for something to say. So she just said the first thing that came to mind.  "Y-You have a nice tree..."

Aubrey mentally facepalmed. That was so stupid.

Dream giggled, a light and bubbly sound that could lighten the mood in any condition. "I know right? It supplies all the worlds with their emotions. Cool right? I mean, it's also a bit overwhelming. I understand if you want to just... look at it."

Aubrey was staring at the golden fruits. They shone in the sun like little golden orbs. Happiness and determination pulsed from their cores, calling everyone to them like a little bell. Well, a few hundred bells.
