Chapter 14: Ashes, Ashes

This chapter is combining pages 19 through 21, since if I did a chapter for each one they would be like 2 pages long :')
And holy crap the stress from moving is huge. So sorry if this took a while and/or this chapter sucks. I tried my best (and made it kinda long) since this gets intense fast. Like, RTGame Planet Coaster break-your-neck fast (if you know who that is thank you)
Thanks for reading, and enjoy!

"When he reached the tree and saw what happened, he felt almost shattered inside of him. At least not everything was lost, he took earlier a golden apple with him to help the ones in need..."

Dream was sitting on the curb with Aubrey, learning of the horrors the townspeople has committed, when he felt a chill run down his spine.

Aubrey seemed to feel it too. The entire AU seemed to feel it. The whole multiverse shuddered with an unseen force. A cold wind had started up quite suddenly, making Dream wrap his cape around his fragile shell.

The wind blew for only a few moments, and then suddenly stopped. It wouldn't have been too much of a disturbance if the emotional atmosphere hadn't changed so much.

Dream quickly noticed the auras of everyone around him grow heavier and thicker. It wasn't a drastic change, but it happened in every single villager around him. It scared Dream a tiny bit before he was filled with curiosity and determination from the golden fruit, still in his hand.

The changing auras were dark, and Aubrey scowled at the breeze. "Stupid wind," she hissed under her breath, canary yellow dress wavering slightly. "Now I'm cold."

Dream flinched at her tone. She almost never said 'stupid,' and she never ever scowled before. Something was most definitely wrong.

The concerned guardian looked to the Do for comfort. He always found safety in the sky somehow, the shades of the high done always bringing him peace at any time of day.

He gasped.

The sky was a terrifying, unnatural shade of deep crimson red.

It wasn't even close to sun down. It had to be at least 2 in the afternoon. Even so, that particular shade of red was impossible to make in any situation. It was horrifyingly captivating, the impossibility of it grabbing you so tightly you can never look away.

The sound of a door quickly opening on his right caused Dream to finally tear his gaze away from the scary sky to see a half-cat girl practically leap out of the doorway of the library. She was muttering something about 'goddamn mood swings.' Her honey brown eyes were muddy with fear, and her white tail and ears twitched with bottled up adrenaline to run away if it was necessary.

Following her was the strange monster that he had barely talked to, fiberglass wings fluttering behind them. Their usually carefree aura was clouded with fear and a hint of anger, with something else unidentifiable hovering around their skin. 987 adjusted their sunglasses before speaking up for the entire town.

"What the hell is going on?"

Everyone began to panic, some holding onto each other, some dashing into their homes to find weapons or armory, some even fainting. Dream was caught right in the middle of it all, frozen in near shock.
