Mmmmm taste that laziness.
Sorry that it took a while, but our comic is unfortunately coming to a close. Of course, we still have a few chapters, and I may have a plan for after the book is finished~I'll tell you guys at the end of the book my little plan. Meanwhile, enjoy a nice new chapter to distract you from my procrastination.

After Dream had sworn to stay by his brother's side, he decided to put a new twist on the promise: he would stay at the tree until Nightmare smiled again. Easy, he thought. He could make anyone smile, especially his brother.
Apparently, that promise was much harder to hold up than he had thought.
Nightmare barely talked to him anymore. In fact, he hardly talked to anyone anymore. When Dream got close to him, Nightmare's aura was scarily empty. It was blank, clouded, closed off to anyone else. Everyone else. His smile vanished, and Dream hadn't seen him come anywhere close to making a new one.
Saying that Dream was concerned would be a hilariously huge understatement. He was constantly checking on his brother, asking him if he needed anything, asking how he felt. Nightmare would usually brush him off, but not today.
After Dream had made his mandatory check on Nightmare, his brother finally said something to him.
"...Dream?"
The guardian of positivity whirled around at an inhuman speed, his cape fluttering with the swift motion. Did he actually just ask him something? Dream took a moment to process it, making Nightmare flinch slightly at his silence.
When he finally had the courage to say something, Dream responded, "...Yes, Nightmare?"
Nightmare's mouth went dry. He couldn't do this. He couldn't just ask Dream his opinion, since it really didn't matter. Nothing mattered when it came to him.
Backing out, Nightmare did a different take. "How's A-Aubrey?" He cringed internally, disliking how he had stuttered. Then again, the broken guardian disliked practically everything about himself at this point.
Dream, on the other hand, was happy to hear his brother finally say something other than 'I'm fine,' or 'I'm just kinda tired.' He had to stop himself from bouncing a bit.
"Aubrey's just fine," Dream giggled, "She actually thinks that you're a pretty good person. She tells me a lot about how the villagers work, their legacy..."
Dream kept talking as Nightmare's thoughts drifted to other places.
Aubrey likes me? No, not in a weird way, but she... No. Nononono. She's acting. She's always been acting for Dream. She never thought I was anything else than the villain...
The guardian of negativity shrunk slightly into himself, Dream's words giving him a slight headache. His thoughts pounded in his head, swirling and remaking and ripping apart and combining and starting all over again...
"...Brother? Nightmare, are you alright?" Dream flinched at the harsh spike of the former's aura. Nightmare was looking right at him, his eyes empty and cold. It chilled Dream just to look at them. He shivered, a phantom wind blowing over his bones.
Nightmare noticed, immediately feeling sorry. He turned away from Dream, his aura making a formidable barrier around his small frame. After a minute or two, Dream left his brother to his thoughts, hearing Aubrey call him over.
