One thing that I must confess and it almost became the death of me; or in my case a serious suspension, is gossip. I just love a good gossip and can go through many means just to obtain it. Noah would tease me with my obsession, as he would call it. But in the end, one way or another, he would always join in with me especially since he's the uncrowned gossip queen.
Anyway, we decided to make good use of one of our many talents and form a secretive gossip club. Why secretive? Why the hell not? It was more intriguing that way. We covered pretty much the basis of the typical secret hideout like the way it's done in movies but without all the coolness and awesomeness.
And more importantly, is because we could get suspended for that. But it didn't stop us at all, we gathered some of our friends and when I say some of our friends I really meant none since we figured that if we start to let people in, it won't really be secretive. Thus, we would spend about fifteen minutes of our break and the entire lunchtime meeting up just behind the school; under the new cafeteria to be more precise. And though it wasn't the most ideal place to conduct such matters, it did serve its purpose pretty well enough.
Or so we thought that is. Turns out we weren't the only one familiar with the spot. Apparently quite a number of the "love monkeys"; basically anyone who dates and are seen a lot together. Why the term love monkeys? Why not? It is just what I call them. Aside from that small side note, we would have a bit of an encounter with a number of them. So instead of looking for another place to conduct our business, we would make sure to reach the designated place before anyone else. And since many of the couples were of higher grades, it caused quite some form of rivalry between us and them.
News about the rivalry spread across the school like wildfire. From kindergarten children to the subordinate staff, school guards and the cooks; basically everyone other than the teachers and the administration knew about it. And everyone just loves a good gossip, either trashy or not, especially if it causes a rivalry. People would try to spread fake gossip just to stir more drama while others would befriend to spread dirt about one another.
As fun as it was to have been in the limelight, it quickly became a bother. For one, meetings became twice as hard to conduct since people would want to find out what it was that we did that we would have to go quite extreme lengths. And secondly, everyone expects a fight, which is unfortunate since Noah can never raise a fist to save his life and I retired quite a few years ago, so I'm no shape to get on a ring.
But apparently, not everyone shared the same thoughts as I. The lover boys were ready to pull up their booty shorts and the girls were trying to tie up their none existing hair together. and unlucky for me, a group of their friends was by their sides while I only had Noah and sadly that wasn't enough. Would I survive? Honestly, I didn't know. But all I could sense that something much worse that would most likely to occur.
It never came as a no-brainer that someone had to be making sure the administration was up to date. Let me just say that moment could not have arrived at a better time; the "love monkeys" had just about enough with the little gossip group and from some sources, they were planning to make us pay. Like really! How would that be possible and we're in school? And these are the same set of idiots who would report to the teacher the noisemakers as a way of being ass-kissers.
Naturally, I didn't take them seriously. But I guess everybody else in the group took the treat to heart. Some even went ahead to apologise and started doing tiny favours just to be on their good graces. Guess you can pretty much figure out the rest. If not, let me summarize it for you; they won and I lost and the gossip group was disintegrated not only because of the treat, teachers were starting to get word and sending spies to do some digging for them.
