The Baby

"Jason, WHAT IS THAT!" Roy shrieked.
"It's a baby dumbass," Jason retorted, carefully laying her down on the couch.
"I know it's a baby Jason, I'm asking what the hell is it doing here?" Roy snapped.
Just then, Kory walked in, "Jason what's going--a baby!" She finished happily, running the last couple of steps to kneel beside the sleeping infant.
"Where did you find her Jason?" Kory asked looking over at him.
"I rescued her from Ivy," seeing Kory's eyes darken he hastily added, "but the baby seems fine though."
Turning her attention back to the babe, Kory commented,"Have you named her yet?"
"Guys, guys! You can't be serious," Roy stepped forward. "There's no way we are...keeping it, we're keeping it."
Upon seeing the glare Kory gave him he changed his statement mid-sentence.
Bending over she gently picked up the little girl and began slowly rocking back and forth.
"Well you found her Jason, so obviously she gets your last name of Todd," thinking about it for a moment Kory continued,"For her first name what about Angel?"
"No, not Angel, Arya. That's the name my mother chose if she ever had a girl. Arya Todd," Jason stated snagging the baby.
Grabbing a small jacket Kory began heading towards the door, "Roy, come with me. I'm going to need your help."
                "With what?" Roy answered warily.
"We're going shopping for Arya," Kory replied simply, and walked out the door.
Groaning, Roy quickly went to catch up, pausing at the doorway; Roy glared at Jason, "This all your damn fault!" Before slamming the door behind him.

             *********************
A few hours later, Kory sauntered into the house with bag after bag of clothes, baby toys, and baby food.
An exhausted Roy trailed behind her.
"I thought you were buying a few things, not the store," Jason quipped surveying the massive amount of baby stuff.
"So did I.." Roy grumbled sinking appreciatively into the couch.
"Hearing a tiny laugh, Jason glanced down at the small bundle to see two adorable, chocolate puppy dog eyes staring up at him once more.
It was uncanny how the baby seemed to have enough focus to just stare non-stop.
Is that normal? Do babies naturally just stare you down? Jason wondered while trying to imitate the slow, rocking movements that he had seen Kory doing earlier.
"Let me see her," Kory said choosing a few random pieces of baby clothes from a pile.
She and Arya entered the bedroom only to emerge a few minutes later.
Kory frowned, "The clothes I bought her fit, but, they are a bit snug. I must have mistaken her size."
Arya squirmed a little, trying to find a more comfortable position in the crook of Jason's arm.
             A stomach growled. Jason's eyes widened, Uh-oh. "Um..K-kory!"
            "Yes," Kory raised an eyebrow.
"I think she's hungry. Can you like, feed her?"
Twenty-five minutes later: "Why won't she just drink the damn milk!" Jason yelled.
"Maybe if you weren't trying to shove the bottle down her throat it she would drink it!" Kory yelled back.
"Well if you weren't such a fucking know it all--" Jason started to say only to be cut off by Roy.
"That's it! Enough! Shut up, both of you; hand me the baby okay?"
Jason snorted, "Like you could do better Roy," yet he still passed Arya to him.
"Idiots.." Roy muttered. Picking up the bottle he put it just close enough so that little Arya could grasp it with her tiny hands.
The baby girl held on to it as Roy began to patiently allow her to drink at her own pace.
Seeing his comrades jaws hanging open in shock, he snickered.
              "How did you..?" Kory whispered.
"What? I'm a man of many talents!" Roy shrugged cockily.

              ********************

After a month had passed of Jason and Kory constantly arguing over parenting techniques; Roy was ready to jump off a cliff.
Day in, day out, the two former heroes sounded like five year olds trying to prove that the other was wrong.
The first diaper incident; Roy shuddered, let's just say he was never allowing Jason or Kory anywhere near a diaper again.
Roy had given up on trying to talk sense into them. Kory was like an overprotective mother bear and Jason wasn't much better. Of course so was Roy; not that he'd ever admit it.
But no matter what he said, Roy knew that he couldn't imagine life with the little bundle of joy.
Seeing a slight movement brought Roy out of his train of thought and back to reality.
Kory was currently trying (emphasis on trying) to make dinner, while Jason was on the floor playing with Arya.
Arya had grown an incredible amount. She was now two months old, but appeared to be three years old.
Jason had had her blood tested, but all the results said that Arya was a perfectly healthy, normal little girl.
They had recently began to teach Arya little bits and pieces of self-defense, due to them being worried about her possibly being kidnapped by Batman or Villains.
"Arya, I'm going to get you!" Jason chuckled, causing the toddler to shriek and try to run away.
Flipping over the chair Jason landed in front of her, scooping her into his arms with one quick motion.
"No fwair! Dadwa chweated," Arya pouted crossing her arms.
"True," Jason admitted hugging her, but 'Dadda' won."
               "Uncle Woy!" Arya complained.
Getting a mischievous smirk Roy looked at Jason and Arya saying, "You know, your right Ari, he cheated. And do you know what cheaters get?"
Arya smiled, Uncle Roy always sided with her.
Roy continued slowly advancing towards Jason.  "They get ganged up on!"
Jason sent them both the Bat (Robin)-glare, "Roy, No. Don't you even--"
Arya and Roy both tackled Jason. Let's just say, that once they were done tousling around; a very angry Kory made them go get new furniture....

Just thought I'd let you know, the next chapter is going to be a major time jump. Mainly because I'm lazy. But also because this story's main plot-line is for when Arya is a bit older.
