Living in Japan!

10- Now A Week

It's been a week since we started attending school in Japan.

Me and Regan met our fair share of friends. Like me and Gaara had become as close as we'd allowed each other to be. Basically, he got weirded out when I tried to get closer. Regan actually started to get closer to Naruto. He's not a afraid from that one time any longer. She actually smiles around him now.

There was no more newbie luck. Gai pushed me to my furthest limits. I manage to survive with Itachi's much appreciated help. Regan was piled with homework when we got home. But we both did, and we got it done together.

We enjoyed living here a lot. Despite it being completely different here, we don't think we could be happier in America.

I sat on the couch with Regan watching tv. When we heard a knock on the door, I stood and went to answer it. Regan stayed in place while I opened the door to see Gaara and Naruto standing in the doorway.

My eyes held warmth at the surprise visit from our friends. "Gaara!" I hugged him tightly. Then smiled at Naruto. "And Naruto!" I exclaimed happily. I was glad to see them here. This weekend was going to be quite boring since we still had stuff to do around the house to be officially 'moved in'.

I realized it was rude to leave them in the doorway, so I opened the door wider. "Please, please come in!" I invited them in and they entered our home.

They sat down on the floor and I looked at them confused. "Sit on the couch" and they looked at each other strangely. Regan then took the liberty to tell me, "it's in their culture dummy." then I hit my forehead. "I'm so sorry. I'm very forgetful..." I start laughing nervous and embarrassed.

Regan decided it'd be funny to laugh at me and the others joined her. I realized in that moment, that this was the kind of warmth I'd yearned for about my entire life.

For this she'd allow herself to be teased 24/7 but if this was the result she'd take it. All she did now was laugh.

Later

Naruto and Gaara had wanted to take us for ice cream. So we sat there now eating the frozen creamy delight in the winter. That was how we rolled. No, it's just fun to defy the unspoken rules and watch people scream at brain freezes, and the cold was the perfect time to do that and that's what I did. Naruto went down first.

Gaara, who everyone swore was "emo" was laughing with me, while Regan rolled her eyes trying to hide the inescapable smile pressed against her lips. I seriously hoped that this moment could last forever.
