In Debt

Ash's arm flew out and smacked me in the face as I caught her, sending me tumbling back into the stream.

I look up to see Jason pushing Shawn away and grabbing Ash.

"COME ON!" he pleaded.

I sniff the air and smell... uh oh.

I leap forward and grab Shawn, beckoning for Amy to come out of the tree.

Ash catches my eye and sniffs the air.

"Is that..." she starts.

"Fire." I finish. "They want a show."

Jason grabs onto my arm as we leap across the stream and I pause when I hear somebody step on a twig. But we're on leaves.

"They're drawing us closer to the other tributes." I gasp, and Ash pulls out her bow and arrows.

I reach into my backpack and fish out the dagger, pushing Amy behind me.

Cameron steps in front of me and raises his spear.

I reach my hand out to the side and Shawn instinctively grabs it.

Then, quick as a flash, the girl from District 11 hops out of the trees and raises her hand in a motion for us to come forward. Does she think that we're stupid? I peer to the side and see her teammate hiding behind a tree.

"MOVE!" I yell, and I leap to the side just as he plummets out, dagger aimed at Jason's heart. "Wait..."

It's too late. As Jason tries to move out of the way of the flying dagger, a fireball appears out of thin air and I throw myself into it's path as it tries to kill Amy.
