"Hello!" the announcer says in a excited tone. "Now that all of our tributes are alive and well, we are inviting... Never mind, we are ORDERING that the remaining districts come to fight to the death at the Cornucopia. Individuals may come as well. 8, 9, 12, good luck! And may the odds be EVER in your favor."

I shiver and Shawn grabs my arm.

"Let's go." he whispers. "It's a long way, and if we aren't there, all heck'll break loose for us."

Amy pulls Logan onto her shoulder and limps towards us, while Ash trails behind her.

"Wait." Ash said gently. "I set some snares last night. We should see if they got anything, and we can get water on the way there."

I nod and she disappears into the brush, quickly reappearing with a plump rabbit and a bird of some sort.

"Looks good." I whisper, and then I have to focus on standing up.

As I gradually add more and more wait onto my legs, starting by crouching, and eventually being able to stand up fully and support my backpack, we started walking towards the Cornucopia.

"What'll you do, Ash?" I whisper to her as she walks by.

She shivers and grabs my hand tightly.

"I don't know." she whispers. "I... I want to win it for District 2! I... I'm sorry but I can't risk this."

I nod in understanding and she paces ahead, sitting down and crawling under a dense tree when we come into sight of the silver spiral.

"Good luck." she whispers weakly.

I nod, and hand her my backpack.

"You'll need it if I don't make it back." I whisper.

Shawn gives her his too, but I notice that he has some items tucked under his sweater.

I quickly slip my dagger out of my bag, and then I gently give a three-finger salute to her. She does it back and I wander out onto the grassy plains.

Already standing there are the other districts, and I notice the girl from District 8 eying me suspiciously. I decide to stay away from her, especially when I notice the assortment of knives lining her belt.

I gasp when I see boy from District 6 wandering towards us, and I see him stifle a fake yawn.

"Let the fighting... BEGIN!"

Dagger (my nickname for the girl from District 8) leaps forward, and launches a dagger at the boy from District 6 as he tries to murder her fellow District 8 tribute.

He collapses to the ground, clutching his collar.

Dagger laughs and watches closely as he yanks off his sweater and presses it down on his wound. In one swift movement, he leaps up and runs into the trees. Sadly, he is too late.

The cannon let's out a sharp blow as he collapses, and the hovercraft picks up his lifeless body.

Her teammate, who is climbing onto the Cornucopia, turns and cries out with glee.

"Hey, come on!" he shouts. "I can see the whole arena from here! I see a new victim for you too!"

Dagger runs over to him and bounds up the horn, her eyes landing on Amy, who is currently eying the sky.

"AMY!" I scream.

I sprint forward, and scramble up the Cornucopia. Dagger turns towards me and pulls a dagger off of her belt, letting out a snicker.

"You challenge ME?" Dagger snickered. "Okay, Coal Girl, you're on!"

I duck and the dagger bounces off a tree, causing her to let out a squeak of surprise.

I use that to my advantage and shove her onto the boy.

"LIAM!" she squeals, and they tumble off the side, landing inches from Logan and Amy.

Logan shows no remorse and he, lacking a proper weapon, grabs a dagger off of her belt and holds it above her stomach.

"Any final words?" Logan asks her, holding the dagger steadily.

"Yes." Dagger breathed. "Mama, I love you. Annie, you are amazing. And Logan, you will REGRET THIS!"

She throws a leg up and her boot smacks Logan's face. Amy runs towards me, Shawn behind her. I pull them both up with me, and turn back to the fight.

Liam jumps up and hops on Logan's back, but the firm 16 year old doesn't even stumble. He leans back, and Liam slides off of his back, straight onto Dagger.

The girl quickly recovers and throws another of her daggers at Logan.

Due to the intensity in her eyes, I unfortunately don't think that she'll miss.
