I trusted Cameron. Right now, I'm barely even sad. Besides, I'm currently too busy to be sad.
Cameron glanced at me sadly, before leaping to the ground, and dragging Ash with him.
"NO!" I scream, trying to jump down after them.
I feel Shawn and Amy holding me back and I resist the urge to hurt one of them. I suddenly know how Zelia feels, and I hate it. I feel the urge to go down there and kill Cameron, but I resist.
The little boy is terrified, and tries to run, but in seconds, Cameron has tackled him and Ash lies motionless on the ground.
Apparently, they give acting lessons wherever the boy is from.
He leaps up, obviously not afraid of the massive 17 year old barreling towards him.
The second Cameron reaches him, the boy raises a thin spear and uses it to block the attack given from Cameron's sword. I don't want to explain what happened next, but let me just tell you that it went too fast.
I leaped out of the tree when the boy disappeared and I dropped to Cameron's side. It was the most that I could do.
I gave him my hand and clutched it as he died in a puddle of blood.
"Take-" he whispers, and then he never blinks again.
After the cannon blows, I grab his sword and his backpack, happy that he had eaten his last cheeseburger today. WAY too greasy for my taste.
I step back as the hovercraft appears, and his body is plucked off of the ground.
I drag Ash with me back into the tree and check her forehead for any swelling from falling out of the tree. Aside from a bump on her temple, she seems fine.
When she wakes up, the anthem had just ended.
("When these brave things have been done.")
I notice her wincing slightly as she adjusts to look at the sky. Cameron was the only one today.
Suddenly, the cannon blows again.
A message appears on the screen that reads CALCULATING... and then it flashes a face that I was honestly not expecting.
The little boy that killed Cameron is dead. He was Sue's teammate.
"He wasn't that far away." I gasp. "Get up higher!"
As suspected, Zelia bursts into the clearing trailed by...
"Logan!" Amy whispers, clearly not aware of what he was about to do.
