The Troubled Soul (Volume 1)

Chapter 13: A Child With A Good Heart.

It's been close to a month since Josh had went unconscious, and he hasn't woken up yet. How he has survived this long without eating or drinking, nobody knows. It worried everybody, Mr. Jackal wondered if he was even human.

He had been put in the infirmary Ms. Jerel had that same day he went unconscious and he has stayed there since. Ms. Jerel hated herself for talking to Josh like he was an idiot. She realized that a week after the incident in his and Violet's room, when Violet had told her that Josh said she keeps speaking to him like an idiot.

Violet had become scared of Josh and hadn't visited him once yet. Rose though, she absolutely refused to leave his side. She was the one who put him to sleep, not to mention she had promised to protect him. Every day since she put him to sleep, one thing kept going through her head.

Rose: Josh, I'm so sorry. I didn't want you to end up like this...I'm sorry.

Sam visited every now-and-then, but never for long. Ms. Jerel visited every day, regretting the way she spoke to Josh. Mr. Jackal visited every day as well, feeling pity for Josh. He had already been through way too much at his age. Racheal visited once every week. Jackson visited three times a week. The only one who didn't visit yet, was Violet.

Josh was lying in a hospital bed they had gotten for him the day he went unconscious. Doctors came to check on him sometimes so see if he showed any signs of waking up. But he never showed any signs. He just laid there, taking steady breaths.

Rose sat in a chair next to Josh's bed. She sat there, and only ever left to eat and use the bathroom. Every day, she would sleep in the chair. Every day, she would hold his hand the entire day, mentally begging him to wake up. She could put people to sleep, but she didn't know how to wake them back up.

Rose then rested her forehead on Josh's forehead, and gently but firmly squeezed his hand. She started crying, mentally begging him to wake up. She hated herself for what she did, and if she could replay that one moment when he was about to kill her, and if she had the choice to put him to sleep, or die...she wouldn't have put him to sleep.

Rose: Please wake up Josh, I'll do anything you want. I'll play with you. I'll be nice to you. I'll help you with chores. I'll help you with your home and school work. I'll take care of you. I'll kiss the spots on you that hurt. I'll protect you with my life. God, I'll even hug you.

Rose: Just, please...wake up.

~Josh's Mind~

Josh and Scarlet were currently chasing each other through the hallways of Stone Haven, playing a nice game of tag. Scarlet was quickly catching up to Josh.

Scarlet: I'm gonna get you Josh!

Josh: No you won't, I'm too fast!

He quickly turned a corner and hid in the first room he could reach. Scarlet though, already knew where he was when she turned the corner. She was his Companion, and he was her Human. She could just sense where he was and she would know where he is. But, she wanted him to have fun, and not everybody has fun while loosing.

Scarlet: Oh Josh, where are you!?

Josh quietly giggled a little at the thought of almost being caught. He felt a little adrenaline rush from it.

Scarlet: Joshie, are you behind...this door!

She quickly and purposely opened a door to a different room. She knew which room Josh was in, but she wanted him to win. Considering she has won the last twenty games in a row.

Scarlet: Oh no, I can't find you Josh! I give up, come on out!

Josh quickly opened the door and stepped out with a bright and happy smile on his face while acting really cheery.
