Gudrun felt Grace's hand wrap around hers and she briefly looked besides her. "He's winning". Daniel's mother smiled. "He is". Gudrun smiled in response and squeezed her hand. She bit her lip against the tears as the Red Bull with number three zoomed towards the start-finish on the last lap. This his first win she'd witness too and she felt herself tearing up and trying to swallow the lump in her throat. His crew jumped up with loud banter, hugging each other and jumping up and down. Chris' hand wrapped around her wrist and he pulled her with him. "Come!". Grace let go of her and ushered her forward, knowing they'd want her at the fences of Parc Ferme. Gudrun let Chris pull her along and she was pushed into Daniel's crew as they were on their way to the podium. Daniel just parked in front of P1 and sat still for a moment. He laughed into his helmet as he realized he won this race. He had been on top of the records all weekend and this was redemption for 2016.
Daniel got out of his car and climbed on top of it. He gladly heard the cheers for him, bulging up his biceps in a playful manner and then jumping off to get to his team. He immediately spotted Gudrun in front of it, his arms wrapping around her and pulling her tightly into him. She didn't have to say anything to show off how proud she was and Daniel took her face in his gloved hands, wiping her tears away and leaning his helmet against her forehead. She could see the laughing wrinkles around his eyes through his visor and she managed to smile as well, unwrapping her arms from him to let his team congratulate him. Sebastian Vettel hugged his former team mate and also Lewis Hamilton gave him a gentle handshake, while the disappointment was written all over his face. He of course had a championship to win, just like Vettel. Daniel took his helmet off and gave it to Anna, the blonde who was also his PR agent. David Coulthard did the interviews in Monte Carlo and was ready to congratulate Daniel.
Daniel was still waving at the fans, jumping up and down in excitement a couple times, causing the older Red Bull driver to laugh. "Daniel Ricciardo, a race winner. You finished this weekend amazingly fast, how did you manage to do that?". The grin spread wider on the Australian's face. "Car felt good, amazing balance, great speed. I don't know, it's just very good". He wiped the sweat of his face and cheekily glanced over at Gudrun and his team. "And you brought support. I heard she's Scottish, so that must be great company". The fellow Scot chuckled and Daniel nibbled on his lower lip as he tried to hide the blushes that wanted to colour his cheeks. "She is the best company I could wish for". He replied and Chris wrapped his arm around Gudrun's shoulder, making her smile at her husband. David finished the interview and moved on to Sebastian and Lewis, while Daniel dribbled up to the cool down room, desperate for some water. He weighed himself and then sat down in the chair, the winner's cap on his head. Sebastian soon joined him, still satisfied he got more points today than his title rival.
Gudrun took her phone out of her pocket of her jeans to shot some pictures of him while he came on to the podium. She was incredibly proud and she was sure his parents were too. Sadly she had to wait before she could hug him again as he was directly forwarded to the press conference and soon after the media square interviews for the world wide journalists. Gudrun was seated in the afternoon sun of Monaco that shone down on Red Bull's energy station. Dilara and a few of her friends were her too, Caterina was somewhere else at the moment, but Gudrun at least had company. They were chatting all about the race and how much they enjoyed it. Gudrun liked the Swarovski sisters, however they were obviously Dilara's friends and she didn't want to disturb them too much. Actually, she just liked Caterina more. "Hey, babe!". She suddenly saw her husband jogging towards her. "Can you hold this, I'm doing a belly flop in the pool, Lewis challenged me". She could barely blink or Daniel pushed the trophy in her hands.
Gudrun took it with a laugh, watching him dribble to the edge of the pool. A lot of photographers soon gathered around him, camera's wanting to capture the moment the winner was belly flopping into the pool, because Lewis Hamilton challenged him to do so during the post race conference. She shook her head and watched how he spread his arms and let himself fall in the water, some of his crew jumping after him, including Christian Horner. "That is your husband". Victoria glanced over at her with a smile. "Wouldn't ever want to marry someone else". She sighed, total heart eyes as she looked over at Daniel being himself in the pool, posing for some pictures. Her nails tapped against the metal of his trophy. "You're going to be at the party tonight, right?". Dilara asked. "I think so". Gudrun replied. "You are so". Victoria said. "Please, Gudrun. We've never been out with you, only lunch and dinner and that's not the same". She continued. "Okay, okay".
